I'll be coming from Manila and my PEO will be DTW (Detroit / Wayne County (DTW), Detroit, Michigan USA ). How much time do i need to sort out papers and things with the immigration?

The flight I reserved only has 2 hours layover before connecting flight to CT.

I assume you're flying Northwest? Two hours lay-over should be okay if the flight from Nagoya to Detroit isn't delayed by over 30 minutes.

Charsiimogen,

Don't know, but I can tell you 2 things:

- I entered the country once at DTW, the lines at the Immigration booths were so long that the whole area was jammed with people and it was hard to tell one line from another. I'll never go through DTW again.

- I've seen one immigration attorney write that DTW is the 'POE from hell', referring to having to deal with the immigration officers working there.

I've entered at both DTW and MSP

Yikes! ... Northwest also has a hub in Minneapolis that I've been through several times which services many of the same destinations and there is often a choice from Manila via either Nagoya or Narita.

I've POE'd at DTW four or five times in the past and never had any problem with the Immigration people. The lines can be long (as DTW is a hub) but they were orderly. Maybe you travelled during the Super Bowl, Yodrak

Charsi, maybe get a 3 hour lay-over. This should give you time to catch your breath. You'll be all right, you'll see

To avoid some stress make sure that your brown envelope, passport and immigration forms are ready to be handed to the immigration officer at your POE.

My POE was Dallas and I only have 1 hr and 20 minutes layover. It was very crowded but I managed to catch my connecting flight just on time. By the way, I am not a first timer traveler, so short layover was fine for me. I guess it is good for you to have like three hours layover so you have time to breath and relax ;) for a little bit.

Don't worry you will be fine

Have a wonderful journey to US!

PatientlyWaiting,

Nope. But I do admit that my 1 experience at DTW is hardly a representative sample. Nevertheless I've gone through MSP exclusively ever since. Because of the crowded conditions I encountered, not because of the immigration people.
