Seriously, I can decide what we have here. Either

Take your pick.

Typical angry response, trying to garner a laugh and an excellent example of antagonism for which I have been warned and berated for all the time. But approved of because it comes from the ilk of one of the team.

I don't get why what he said is so controversial.

I agree. He's being honest, but honesty is often controversial.

What's up with that victim mentality? I expected more of you, Marc. I really did.

The DNC should be very concerned right about now.

You would have to be living under a rock if you haven't heard that Obama's lead is virtually insurmountable, and everyone has to believe that it is contrary to the Democrats long term efforts to drag the primaries out this long, and Yet- about half of the remaining Democratic voters would rather keep Hillary Clinton in the election till the end that just hand it over to Obama so the Dems can get on with Campaigning against McCain.

I'm sorry, but how can you believe that the majority of the country is excited about voting for him when almost half of the voters in his own party are content to make him fight to the bitter end to get his chance?

Obama's a racist hack.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

What you seem to forget here is that McCain has his own battle all cut out for him. Nobody focuses on that just yet but we all soon will. You see, his moving ever closer to the ever more unpopular Bush and his failed policies and flip-flopping on issues to court the right wing, just how can you believe he'll stand a chance in November?

How I can believe it is because of one more thing you forget. I am a Republican. And as a Republican I actually support most of those things that he moves ever closer to Bush on- and so do most of us. Its funny how excited Democrats get whenever Bush makes a decision that is clearly inline with Conservative thinking and you say "oh, he's through! Look what as a$$ he is!" and all of your fellow left wingers agree. But, Bush is not a democrat, so why you think that he should act like a Democrat is beyond me. The water boarding issue is a great example of that. Sure liberals hate that, but do you think conservatives do?

See, there are two kinds of Republicans- Those like Gary that are happy with almost all of Bush's decisions including that of the war, and those like me who are unhappy with a lot of Bush's decisions including the war, but in the end I am still a Republican and as many things as I may disagree with Bush and even McCain on, I find almost nothing with Obama that I agree on. Sure, some of us will try take our angers on the war out on Bush by punishing the whole Republican party, but honestly I don't think that is going to be that much of us. As someone once stated on here, if we wanted to do that, we would have done it 4 years ago when we had the actual President who made the decision which was already looking like a bad one in office. But we didn't. Why? Because we are not Democrats. Where do you think we've all gone to? Remember it was liberals who threatened to leave the country if Bush was re-elected, but We are still here!

Obama will get very little of the Republican vote I think. I am not personally swayed by issues like this latest one. I know what he meant, but to think that Obama is a shoe in, then that means matters like this, Reverand Wright, and the Weather Underground don't mean anything to the general population just because they don't mean anything to his loyal supporters in the democratic primaries is nonsense. What I pointed out is that these issues even seem to matter to half of the democrats. That is why McCain will probably win. Frankly it wouldn't shock me if he even won by a landslide.

Why in the hell anybody would remain faithful to a party just because they are registered to it boggles my mind.

I was a registered Republican for more than two decades. The more the party swayed to the neo-cons and veered off from what was really happening in America, the less enchanted with it I became.

The last straw for me came this spring when the WV Republican committee decided to hold their convention PRIOR to the popular vote. All you had to do to attend that convention was pay a few bucks and you were in. The attendees were not even elected delegates.

I'll be damned if I will belong to a party who thinks they know what's better for me before I even get a chance to vote for an issue.

PS - I went down to the courthouse and changed my party from Republican to Democrat the day of that convention.

I think it was pretty dumb of Obama to say what he said. I think it's rude to imply people are religious there just because their job market sucks or they have no money. There are also very succcessful people who are religious. It makes the people sound like losers. While what he said could be true of some, it sounds too generalized.

I still prefer Obama to Hillary though.

Couldn't the same be said about the democrat party sometimes too? For instance, abortion. We never got to vote on that one.

I am still registered Republican, and while I am more centrist, if I was an independent I couldn't vote in the primaries in Florida. I don't think I could ever identify myself as a democrat for certain reasons though. No one totally agrees with either side I'm sure. But I agree with the Repubs more than with the Dems.

Stina, I don't think that's what he said at all. He himself is religious.

He said they turn to religious issues because they don't believe politicians can help their economic situation.

Abortion is a constitutional issue, Stina. So far it's just 'mandated' by a Supreme Court ruling. There has never been a nationwide electorate on the issue.

The parties have their 'stances' on the issue on their platforms. But so far, the parties haven't made the law.

I wouldn't think this would need to be pointed out, but the same can be said of Hillary.
