My wife overheard my mom saying "I'm going to pay those bills" and she thought my mom said "I'm going to Pedos Bill". Pedos in Peruvian Spanish means "farts". Erika busted out laughing because she thought my mom was going to a fart store.

I thought of another one...but this time I'm the guilty party.

It was erika's uncle's birthday and she was still in peru. she asked if I wanted to send him a happy birthday text message, so i told her i would.

the whole family was at his house celebrating. keep in mind that he's a pretty serious no-nonsense military kind of guy. He gets my message and erika said his eyes got really big and he said "oh, Dios mio!" The fact that I didn't know how to put the "ñ" in my phone changed the whole tone of the message...I substituted the "ñ" with "n". the message said something like "feliz cumpleanos tio miguel. que tengas un buen ano!" For those who don't speak Spanish, I meant to say "happy birthday uncle miguel. and have a great year!" But because I put "n" instead of "ñ", the message meant "happy birthday uncle miguel and you have a great a$s!" everyone there was rolling on the floor laughing

"Pedo" is in Spanish in general...

I realize that there is a difference with the regular "n" and the "n" with a tilde...but people understand. You can write "anio" so it is pronounced regularly.

Another good one is the word "shrimp". Erika loves to eat shrimp, so any time she wants it for dinner I make her pronounce it correctly  She usually pronounces it "shramp" about seven or eight times before I can get her to smile when she says the "i"...always good for a laugh for us before dinner

When I was waiting for my flight back home from India.. Jan..asked me if i would like to have some snakes for the trip home... Snakes? what? Snakes wont be allowed on the plane.. .. i said.. .. he laughed... I said.. you know.. snakes.. cobra.. or such.. he said noooo nooo snakes.. like chips.... ohhhhhh i said.. you mean.. snacks... ..... i laughed so hard I cried..

Recently he was showing me his feet online.. (had a injury) so he was showing me his bruising.. he told me his fingers were so sore... and his fingers were swallow up to his knee... .. fingers and knee? and how is it getting swallowed... .. I explained. .. fingers are on the hands.. toes are on feet.. and the knee is 1/2 way up his leg.. the one at the foot is the ankle..... ohhhhhh yesssss..but.. it is swallowed.. .. ohhh it really is indeed swollen.. not swallowed ... ...

when he does that.. he laughs and says.. oh yes dear.. i will make sure i get you some snakes too hahahahahah
