I called USCIS few times and I was always very nice -- nothing happened. I called again last friday. Here is our conversation :

Hey, why are you holding my files?

officer: We do two things: Security check and verify that it is a valid marriage.

So, Can you pass the file after the security check is done?

Officer: No, because someone need to verify that it is a real marriage.

Well, the counsalor at the embassy does the same thing, right?

Officer: May be.

What do you mean may be? They take in-person interview and won't give the visa until the are satisfied.

Officer: ....... Listen, we are working really hard.. we are doing overtimes.. working weekends..

so, you are making some extra money?

Officer: What do you mean?

Well, the extra people who applied in july have already been processed. Now how come you are still getting behind every day with all the new hires and extra hours?

Officer: Are you saying we are intentionally doing it.

Yes and I am also saying that you are corroupt and created this fake surge to make money.

Offier: What is your file number, sir.

I don't want to give it to you.. can I talk with your supervisor?

...........

WOW!!! Not a good idea buddy!

How could you claim that these people are working overtime and weekends cause of extra money. I don't know where you live but overtime and extra money is #######! Overtime stresses you out, keeps you away from your own life and family and the pay is sometimes not enough. Some people are salary and overtime is just that OVERtime...not OVERpay. I understand that you are waiting some awhile for an approval, but to just assume that you know the operation in these offices is ridiculous.

I guess I don't believe this conversation went as you reported it. How did the USCIS rep know the status of your petition (waiting on security check, verification of relationship, etc) unless you provided your case number to begin with?

not sure if they are actually putting the real hours. creating six months of back log is good reason to start collecting money for extra hours. Marlita,it is easy to ask me qestions. But can you ask them how many i-130 applications they are processing each month now, with all the new hires and overtime?

Let me tell you what is not a good idea... not ask them any queston... not challange them at all...

There is a difference between asking a question and being rude to them.

And there is proof that they are working weekends, many of us have seen action taken on our files on Saturdays and Sundays, some even on holidays.

It is highly unlikely that agent you spoke with was the one that chose for there to be a fee increase, lets be honest, people who make those decisions don't answer the phones.

If you fill out your information, people might be able to give you a better insight into your case!

dude not a good idea these people perform a process and trust me overtime does not come into the equation and being this blunt with them will get you nowhere as speaking to the supervisor will also do nothing

Dude, I dont want to be critical to them either. But I just dont want to sit here and do nothing. I am just thinking what else i can try ... there gotta be something ... for myself and everyone else ... who is suffering because of them....

Can we take it in your work you deliberately hold things up to make more money and you are judging USCIS by your own standards.

If not why do you think other people would behave that way.

I expect the people doing the job are as sick of it as everyone else, being rude and abusive will get you nowhere.

Dude!! I have respect for people who want to challenge the system, especially if it's inefficient and broken. The person on the phone may not make the decision, but he can potentially impact others and maybe introduce some changes on how they handles these petitions and their customers. Yes, it's a long shot but USCIS has no mechanism to allow us toe provide them improvement suggestions. Their omnibus counselor hasn't provide any impact, improvement, or changes to the process at all despite the complaints and suggestions people offered. At a minimum, it may provide the person some realization that they are dealing with people of emotions and feelings and understandably anxious to be with their family!!

Lansbury,

hopefully, i will get mine approved in few weeks. but it was a very painful process. I read some people even could not finish it. If enough of us chalange them, may be they will listen.

Why don't you call uscis once and tell them that you are concern about the pain they are causing in people's life. On the mean time, let me try if I can bring eough people/ideas to see if we can make an impact.

The difficult thing might not be to make ins listen to us but to make you shut up.
