Dear Members,

My wife is a Canadian citizen who needs to get a police report from Colombia from 1991-1992. We are currently living in a country without a Colombian consulate/embassy (we are in Syria). We are looking for a reputable agent in Colombia (either in Bogata or Barranquilla) who could handle the request from DAS for us at a reasonable rate and in a reasonable time frame. If you know of anyone, please let us know.

Thanks for your time,

Sincerely,

Kirk Jones

Colombian Police Certificate is indeed available to foreigners, living outside of Colombia. I have applied for one through the Colombian Embassy here almost two months ago and I am still waiting for it to be processed and was told that it will take three months.

So, my advice is, give a call to the nearest Colombian Consulate (neighboring country) and ask for their advice.

When I was applying for the certificate, I was given the option of getting the police headquarters here to fingerprint me and together send notarized and legalized copies of your passport, visa, Colombian cedula, and the signed forms, all to DAS in Bogota. However, there is a fee where you have to pay but if you are using this option, I am not sure how you will pay. So, I chose to go through the Embassy which sounds a lot more secure.

Anyways, do PM me with your email addy and I will send you some info which I have received from a fellow VJer who is also a Canadian applying for the same Certificate.

Good luck!

Cheers. :star:
