Have you heard first-hand from people on vj (or elsewhere) who say they were denied entry at POE because they admitted to having a non-legal ceremony?

here is your first hand info...

first hand knowledge of ceremony causing denial

Maybe you can PM them and get first hand info. the link to this was just above your post.

Chris

I have read about atleast 2-3 other cases where people were denied a K1 because the CO thought they were married.... I would not risk it... too much time, effort and money involved.

How exciting, just checked my email and we've been approved already! Just applied in December, and it says they're only processing papers from October right now...what a pleasant surprise! :) Now to hoping everything else goes smoothly. Maybe the interview to ask questions made us get it faster... :P I doubt it though :P

CONGRATULATIONS :dance::dance::dance:

Thanks! :D

Congratulations Candy,

just fyi... the dates they put on the site are the oldest cases they are dealing with. Lots of December CSC filers were approved in the last couple of days. Wonderful to see!!!

best of luck on the rest of your journey...and if you wouldnt mind, :time: It will help with the stats for the rest of the folks here. ;)

Janaina and I talked about this too, and decided against it.

Also, in Brazilian culture, a "noivado" (engagement party) is also common.

If your religion and/or culture allows for it, you might consider an engagement party to keep your famil(ies) happy. I would avoid using a wedding dress, or anything in a church, just to be safe.................but an engagement party might be just the thing to satisfy the beneficiary's family and friends, while keeping everything legal.
