Hello! I kept tracking your posts since we have started the process, I do have two derivatives just like dbears (Hi Gay!). But what I am confused now is whether to enroll my kids this June, this is out of I-134 issue but related as well with k2s. Our girls go for a montessori school costing much for the enrollment/books only to know we only got few months before leaving assuming we get approved by September. Moneywise, it will lessen expenses and instead just use the money for other fees in this journey.

Need your opinion GORGEOUS MOMS!!

Thank you so much!!

Hi! I had the same problem last year after i got our interview appointment from the USEM if i'm going to enroll the kids or not. Our interview was May, it turned out fine but there was a delay in the issuance of the visas due to the fact that USCIS overlooked my youngest kid's name when they processed our paperworks. Her name was not included in the appointment letter, my fiance called the NVC and i also doublechecked USEM about it. We were advised to fax a request to USEM to include her to the interview. She did her medical and i paid for her interview, during the interview i told the CO what happened and he granted the request but there might be some delays for visa issuance. It took 21 days for us to receive the visas. Classes were about to begin during that time so i was hesitant to enroll them or not. My kids studies in a Chinese school so it's really a fortune to have them enrolled. My fiance and I talked about it and decided to save the money for the plane tickets. It was peak season during that time so i waited for another month to booked for cheaper flights.

We left for US mid-July, just enough for the kids to have ample time to adjust before school starts in August. Here in Missouri, school usually starts couple of weeks early than other states. If you wish to enroll them in a public school, almost everything is for free. Books, school bus and even meals if you will get qualified, depends on the annual household income.Since i got 4 kids i applied for it but my husband's income just meet the criteria of reduced meals(breakfast/lunch). Well, life here in the US is not always a bed of roses, it's not always the way we pictured it out. So we sometimes really need to do the best of what we can do in order to save and help our husbands as well.

My oldest son who is supposed to be in 2nd HS, but he went back to 8th grade . Mostly, kids are about 18-19 years old when they graduate in HS over here. It's sometimes quite frustrating that they will get 2 years behind. Anyway, i noticed that education in the Philippines is quite advance, more advantage if kids studied in a private school. I'm not trying to brag, but my kids are doing pretty good in school, both in academics and extra-curricular activities. In fact, they always got straight A's. My 8th grader is candidate for valedictorian and won 2nd place both in Math and Science contest for Ozarks shools competition which dozen of school participated. My 4th grader is the school Spelling Bee champion and competed with 94 different schools, sad to say he lost :( . Anyway, it's the experience that counts, and of course to think that he is new in this place is worth to be proud of as a parent.

Well, in my opinion it depends if you want to enroll them or not, the best thing is you will have the visa soon.... ;)

GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS!

thanks ana, it is inspiring that your kids are doing well. You sure have every reason to be proud. KUDOS to you and to your kids

To enroll or not to enroll, that is the question? : it is always different strokes for different folks. I'm sure Marie (Maria) will be able to weigh up the options and will be able to come up with the best decision for her kids.

Hello Maria. Are you still in Naga? are there no school there that will allow you to just pay on per month basis?

My kids attend a non-traditional school here, more of the multiple intelligence, multi-disciplinary approach and not textbook dependent. So the tuition is kinda expensive even compared to traditional private schools here.

I checked the school that my kids will be attending in NC. Their school year this year starts on August 25. Although we have interview sched next month and would probably have our visa soon thereafter, we don't plan to go to the US till end of july or early August pa.

What I did was talk to the school directress even before the class ended last last march and have told her about the situation, she then discussed it with the school board and she told me that they would allow me to just pay on a per month basis and won't require me to pay registration fee and other miscellaneous fee. So the kids will still go to school here June and probably part or whole month of July.

Though the grades won't be honored but at least they will be learning new skills during the 2months stay in school. In their school, the kids learn more through experiments and playing, workshops and community visits. There is open interaction and sharing of ideas between teachers and students. Not unlike traditional school where teachers talk, kids listen. Each day spent in that school is really priceless for my kids that's why I can't give it up just becoz we will be leaving 2 months after school starts.

Well, just weigh your priorities and your options. You can enroll them in art class or music class while waiting or you can order homeschooling materials so you could homeschool them whilst you are still here. Whatever you choose, I know you will have your kids best interest in your heart.

Best of luck Maria, I hope you will get your approval soonest. God bless always. (F)

Thank you Gay. Yes, excluding enrollment/books/misc., they accept monthly scheme of payment for tuition fees, but really this is a Montessori school which costs about P20k for their enrollment adding up the monthly fees will be much of a money why I am into deciding whether to enroll them or not. It will only be 4-5 mos.from June before we leave (I pray) and besides as they transfer in the US what will be credited is their previous card not the grades for the later months. Your suggestion of enrolling them to a music class may be an option, my eldest girl is into guitars and has a real good voice.

It really entails much to be a 'good' mother like you goms out there. Maybe if I don't consider things on the part of those who helps me like my fiance', I wouldn't care making right decisions like this.

Thank you so much.

Stay beautiful all moms!

Hello honeysweet, I am so inspired knowing your kids are doing excellent in school. I have 2 girls and my eldest is also entering 3rd yr h.s.Too bad that they will be 2 years behind as they enter school there, I am just so excited to put her into college here as my parents retire there and be the one to attend to her here in the Philippines, time and moneywise.

Very true stating how life is there, I may not been there yet but with my parents and sisters being there and some batchmates in school I can tell with their stories, I am actually anticipating on that.lol. All my hopes and plans of being there are focused on having a 'new' but good and happy family. We are so blessed that He lead us to persons who would accept not only you or me, but our kids as well.

Thank you so much honeysweet.Congratulations to your kids. Hats off for being a good mom, it all reflects in our kids.

Best regards!

You have beautiful kids Marie

I also want to send back my kids here for college. It cheaper and I still have faith in the quality of education here... as long as they get admitted to UP or MSU in Marawi or IIT in Iligan. If not, then I will cross the bridge when I get there. My kids are still in grade school, 3rd and 5th grade respectively so it is still a long way to go. Plans may still change with regards to their schooling. But as of now, coming back here for college is what i have discussed with them and they are agreeable to it. (as of now)

I know we would need a separate notarized I-134 affidavit of support for me and each of my kids. My question is, would we need a separate supporting documents for each of the three I-134? or would one copy of form 1040, one copy of certificate of employment, W2s, bank statements be enough to cover all three I-134?

Any ideas/inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Hello i just had my interview last month but we just brought I-134 for myself but we provided 2 extra notarized copies and Copy of form 1040, one copy of certificate of employment, W2s, bank statements.

Your interview is fast approaching, right? Good luck, I know you will be on the positive side, you seem smart and determined.

Best regards to you and your fiance'..kisses to the kids.

Thanks for the well wishes... i'm done stressing over this whole process... doc verification and everything else. I have lifted it all to God. If I pass and get my visa without problem, it will not be becoz I am smart or I am totally prepared, it is becoz it will be His will... same goes if the opposite happens.

I'll do my part: prepare all the documents as best as I could, pay all the fees, and keep myself and my kids as healthy as a bee.. but His will be done. I have confidence that no matter what the outcome will be, whether favorable or not, it will still be what's best for me and my kids and Ricky. Afterall, God knows the future better than I do.

God bless you always marie.. hugs and kisses to your kids too. :star:

this is the reply to an Email I sent to the Embassy back in 06

RE: xxxxxxx, YASMIN +1

Date: Wed, 30 Aug 2006 10:07:07 +0800

From: "Consular IV Manila" <ConsIVManila@state.gov> Add to Address Book Add Mobile Alert

To: "roy xxxxxxxxxxx" <xxxxxxxx@yahoo.com>

As long as both applicants are named in the I-134 affidavit of support, a single copy will suffice.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From: roy xxxxxxxxx [mailto:xxxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com]

Sent: Wednesday, August 30, 2006 9:26 AM

To: Consular IV Manila

Subject: affidavit of support

Case number MNL2006723xxx

Yasmin xxxxxxx will be applying for a K-1 visa and her daughter Effie a K-2 visa. Do I need to submit a separate I-134 Affidavit of Support for each of their application?

Regards,

Roy xxxxxxxxxxx

If those applying for K-2 feel more comfortable having a separate I-134 for the K-2, then I'd have one available.

Thanks Roy & Yazi, you are always a great source of information when it comes to K2 & K4 derivative visa.

Thanks for taking the time to dig up files and files of emails for us (I bet they were buried in hundreds if not thousand of emails already since it is still from 2006), it is greatly appreciated.

God be with you and your entire family always. (F)
