I-134 for K2 question

 Share

27 posts in this topic

I know we would need a separate notarized I-134 affidavit of support for me and each of my kids. My question is, would we need a separate supporting documents for each of the three I-134? or would one copy of form 1040, one copy of certificate of employment, W2s, bank statements be enough to cover all three I-134?

Any ideas/inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks sheriff but is it absolutely for this question:"would we need a separate supporting documents for each of the three I-134?"

or

absolutely for this one: "would one copy of form 1040, one copy of certificate of employment, W2s, bank statements be enough to cover all three I-134?"

You absolutely need to provide the I-134 with ALL of the supporting documents for each visa applicant.

Cheers!!!

hmmm.. as far as i remember me and my son (k2) only used one I-134, he is my dependent so he is just under the dependent for affidavit of support so i was wondering why you need each for you and the kids? have you check the affidavit of support form? i think you only need one for you and your kids

I, myself underwent K1 with K2 derivatives, 4 kids actually. We had our interview May 10,2007. My husband (fiance back then) sent only 2 notarized copies of I-134 AFFIDAVIT of SUPPORT and all supporting documents for all of us. I submitted 1 copy during the interview and kept the other copy for my records. All K2 derivatives will be enlisted on the affidavit of support so i guess there's no need to make separate copies for each applicant, that is if your kids will be present during the interview. Otherwise, you need separate copies for them in case you decide them to follow-to-join during their interview. This facts were based on my own personal experience, i'm sure others have different views to share.

Well, it's almost been a year that i had our interview. I'm not sure if the embassy have some changes with the process, so if you think it's necessary to make separate copies you can do it. It will not hurt in doing so.

GOOD LUCK and may GOD BLESS YOU!

The first line of the I-134 states: "A separate affidavit must be submitted for each person." so I assumed that my fiance would need to file a separate I-134 for each of us since we will be paying separate visa fees, fill out separate DS156 and DS 157 and would therefore be required to present a separate affidavit of support also.

But maybe you are right, maybe I just need one affidavit of support for the 3 of us... the derivative status of "K2" visa applicants has temporarily escaped me.

thank you very much and God bless. (F)

Thank you very much for the well wishes and the inputs honey sweet! (F)(F)(F)

I just found this thread about I134 for k1/k2 also: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=103816

There's really varying views on this, probably based on different personal experience on the process. Just to be on the safe side, I will just ask my fiance to send 3 notarized I-134 and one set of supporting evidence and I'll just photocopy it to go with the other 2 affidavit of support. A you have said it will not hurt at all and it will somewhat ease my mind also that we will be fully covered with documents.

Thank you very much again and God bless you always. :)

Hello! I kept tracking your posts since we have started the process, I do have two derivatives just like dbears (Hi Gay!). But what I am confused now is whether to enroll my kids this June, this is out of I-134 issue but related as well with k2s. Our girls go for a montessori school costing much for the enrollment/books only to know we only got few months before leaving assuming we get approved by September. Moneywise, it will lessen expenses and instead just use the money for other fees in this journey.

Need your opinion GORGEOUS MOMS!!

Thank you so much!!

I'd have the Kids continue their schooling. their education is the important factor. having to catch up on their education will just add to the adjustment when coming here.

Hi Roy and Yazi! Yes, education is the greatest tool in life. Since September is the start of school in the US, I am into options coz their grades in the later months (June-October) won't be honored rather the previous grades on the last school year. Whew!! I wish money grew on trees..LOL.

Thank you so much for that piece of advice.

Best wishes!!

Hello Maria. Are you still in Naga? are there no school there that will allow you to just pay on per month basis?

My kids attend a non-traditional school here, more of the multiple intelligence, multi-disciplinary approach and not textbook dependent. So the tuition is kinda expensive even compared to traditional private schools here.

I checked the school that my kids will be attending in NC. Their school year this year starts on August 25. Although we have interview sched next month and would probably have our visa soon thereafter, we don't plan to go to the US till end of july or early August pa.

What I did was talk to the school directress even before the class ended last last march and have told her about the situation, she then discussed it with the school board and she told me that they would allow me to just pay on a per month basis and won't require me to pay registration fee and other miscellaneous fee. So the kids will still go to school here June and probably part or whole month of July.

Though the grades won't be honored but at least they will be learning new skills during the 2months stay in school. In their school, the kids learn more through experiments and playing, workshops and community visits. There is open interaction and sharing of ideas between teachers and students. Not unlike traditional school where teachers talk, kids listen. Each day spent in that school is really priceless for my kids that's why I can't give it up just becoz we will be leaving 2 months after school starts.

Well, just weigh your priorities and your options. You can enroll them in art class or music class while waiting or you can order homeschooling materials so you could homeschool them whilst you are still here. Whatever you choose, I know you will have your kids best interest in your heart.

Best of luck Maria, I hope you will get your approval soonest. God bless always. (F)
