I think you should care about your health, and less about how hot you look. If you marry someone for how they appear, you will be in trouble when they start to age. I just feel you should worry more about health than appearance, I mean I would understand if my husband points out something I am doing that can give me heart disease, rather than say, that will give you a fat ###. Understand, that is what I am trying to say, of course health is most important, and I would to the same with him also.

Yes, if you go out with your girlfriends, they're not going to order an appetizer, a meal and a dessert, and then have a snack when they get home. You probably won't make a big thing out of each meal when you're single either. Just grab what you can and only cook when you're with someone else.

When you live with a man, you forget that you can't eat like he does. You pig out like that. For every pound he gains you'll gain two.

And if the man just keeps getting fatter while wanting you to lose weight you become resentful of that, and also that environment makes it a lot harder to lose weight in. When you live alone you can just not buy things. When you live with a man, don't expect him to help you at all if you want to lose weight. It will only be harder.

I don't know about that. I've been fighting the "battle of the bulge" my entire life. While I was a very overweight kid and teenager, I managed to lose a lot of weight and get down to a normal size for my height and build. It took time, effort and will power. Believe me, if anyone knows how hard it is to lose weight (and keep it off), it's me. It's an ongoing battle, especially since I love to eat.

Maybe that's not the "typical" scenario for men, but it's how things are for me. Because of that, I'd be a lot more understanding of a woman (or a man) who was trying to lose weight. If my wife put on a few pounds and wanted to take them off, I'd definitely offer to help in any way I could. In fact, we could help each other, since two people dieting and exercising is a lot more "fun" than one person doing it alone.

While I may not be the "nicest guy" to people I don't know in person, I'd do practically anything for my wife. I told my wife that we're a "team" and that her problems and issues are mine as well. Except for unique circumstances, marriage vows aren't conditional for me -- the "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, richer or for poorer" statements hold.

Even when I'm sick, I'm still hungry. Such is my fate and my curse. Most "normal" people lose their appetite when they're sick. Not me. I can still eat, unless I'm actively vomiting. Even then, the thought sometimes occurs to me. Not for long, though, since I don't have time to act upon it.

Me, too... i feel the same for my Hayati. i don't care what happens or how he looks, i married him for him and inchallah we will live a long, happy life together. Of course, i always want him to be healthy... for his own sake...

but for us all, our bodies and appearances change as we get older. C'est ca la vie.

i also love Hayati because he promised we could get a donkey if we have to live in Morocco... as i stated earlier in the thread.

I gain a bit of weight every time I get to be with Iain, so I know it's gonna be a terrible struggle when we marry. It's gonna be my fresh veggies and calorie counting vs. his boxed pizzas and chinese and bags of chips and cookies. He's one of these tiny guys that doesn't just grab a handful of cookies, no, just takes the WHOLE DAMN BOX and sits and consumes them. After a bag of chips. After a huge dinner. I'm worried about him NOW no matter that he's so small developing diabetes or something

Plus I'll be moving back into my mom's house for awhile in a month, and we'll live there awhile, and that's good ol' comfort food southern cooking and oh geez, AND I won't be in a downtown anymore where I can walk everywhere. I'm just screwed

But one of the hardest things really is recognizing the health aspect and caring what you eat. When I'm with Iain I don't care and have fun because he makes me feel so so comfortable and good about myself, I feel beautiful and good no matter what I weigh. So that's on the one hand a really great thing but on the other potentially dangerous

I didn't read the article. I didn't have to. The title says it all to me. It's been over a year and I have definitely gained too much weight. Dude told me months ago that I was getting fat. Tonight I weighed myself. FTS! I shall change my indifferent ways starting now.
