Some people in the Philippines also prepare dishes out of dog meat. Culturally, pets do not become members of the family there. They are just pets. So, to some people, since dogs (and cats) are not "relatives" (so to speak), they are just another source of meat.

Personally, I couldn't stand the sight of dogs slaughtered for meat and refused to even try a bite of any dish with dog meat in it.
