And #6 and Obama would like to negotiate with them..

There's nothing wrong with a pragmatic approach - especially when (on Iraq) they are clearly holding all of the cards.

Negotiating with your enemies is a sign of weakness and should be done only as a last resort.

That said, I think the threat posed by Iran has been vastly overblown. Compared with the

Soviet Union (and now Russia) having tens of thousands of warheads aimed squarely at the U.S.,

the threat is very minor indeed.

If we're nice to the bad people the bad people will be nice to us.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

do you think terrorism ends without Israel?

No

Fundamentalism and fanaticalism will extend to the next fight... and they will find a fight

All you're doing is justifying the spending of American blood and treasure in the defense of a nation that does not need - or warrant - defending.

How do you reconcile this story with this one?

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=121478

Would you want to just "talk" with them and hopefully talk them out of their stated goals?

Here is how:

Ahmadinejad also "advised" western powers to repent or, "otherwise Iranians will hoist their flag on the roof of their buildings."

It is the biggest mistake liberals make. They think everyone different wants to negotiate. Hell I don't want to negotiate with those wankers. What makes them think a country like Iran would "negotiate"..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Or perhaps we should stop putting ourselves in the position of having to go to those people on our hands and knees. This is what happens when you have a "shoot first ask questions later" policy that doesn't take account of obvious outcomes.

At this point its honestly hard to see how Iran won't end up benefitting from the Iraq situation if/when the US pulls out. Its a waiting game for them - waiting for the US to bleed itself dry before public opinion here calls a halt to the whole business; and they have a lot more time than we do.

I agree that its overblown, on a global stage at least. In relation to Iraq they are a threat - especially if we end up handing them the keys to that country. But something tells me that we've already done that.

Sure they can negotiate with NK for relay privilege... NK gets a pass so they'd never expect it coming...

I've been trying to tell you guys about this for months as I've been following Iran's foreign affairs and I'm well acquainted with that Middle East political snake.. Ack! As soon as Putin pulled his support I was certain Iran was developing a weapons program.

It was just a matter of time till this information trickled out.

I've spoken with Iranian refugees who have told me politically it's worse than Iraq and Bush is a good man and we should go after Iran next.

But to sway and educate the American opinion to take on Iran would take an awful lot. For example someone like Rupert Murdoch who owns a conglomerate of media outlets and was the hawk behind pushing the war agenda through his media resources the first time.

Lets make some comparisons here. In the 90's OBL publicly declared war on the US. We ignored it. Then we had the first WTC bombing. We ignored it. Then two of our embassies in Africa got blown up. We ignored it. Then the USS Cole was attacked. We ignored it. Then we got 9/11. Any connections?

Fast forward to the present. Iran says they want to blow Israel off the map. We are ignoring it. Iran is trying to build a nuclear bomb. We say it's none of our business. Iran sends IED's to Iraq to blow up our troops. People call for "talks". Iran develops missiles that can reach Europe. People still call for "talks". Iran states that all western countries that do not repent will be destroyed. People still call for "talks". Is history repeating itself? At what point do the "talkers" realize that action is the only thing that will save us? When a major European city blows up?

Iran boasts hundreds of new centrifuges: report

by Hiedeh Farmani 1 hour, 17 minutes ago

TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran has started operating hundreds of new uranium-enriching centrifuges at its main nuclear plant, the official IRNA news agency said on Friday, confirming Tehran is expanding its contested atomic drive.

Iran is now operating 492 new centrifuges at the Natanz uranium enrichment plant, the agency quoted an informed source as saying, in defiance of UN calls to freeze the process which the West fears could be used to make the bomb.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced on Tuesday that Iran was working to install 6,000 more centrifuges at an underground hall in the plant but gave not figures on how many of the new centrifuges were operational.

The IRNA report was the first time an official source has given numbers to go with the progress.

According to the UN nuclear watchdog, Iran has already installed around 3,000 of the centrifuges at the uranium enrichment plant in central Iran and the 492 new machines are part of a second series of installations.

"Three cascades of 164 centrifuges from the second series of 3,000 centrifuges are operational in Natanz," the source, who was not named, told the agency.

The source added that the new centrifuges were of the original P1 type and not the faster models that Iran has been testing at an above-ground research facility at the plant.

This new generation of machines are Iran's version of the more efficient P2 centrifuges -- the IR-2 -- which officials say can enrich uranium with five times the output capacity of the standard P1s.

Ahmadinejad's announcement on Tuesday came as Iran marked its "national day of nuclear technology" on the second anniversary of its first production of uranium sufficiently enriched to make atomic fuel.

It provoked an angry international reaction with Western countries warning Tehran faces further sanctions if it continues to expand its nuclear drive.

The West fears Iran could use enriched uranium to make a nuclear weapon, and Tehran's refusal to suspend the process has been punished with three sets of UN Security Council sanctions and US pressure on its banking system.

But Iran insists that its nuclear programme is entirely peaceful and solely aimed at generating energy for a growing population whose supply of fossil fuels will eventually run out.

Some diplomats have said that Iran has experienced difficulties in utilising its existing centrifuges to full capacity.

But the deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation, Mohammad Saeedi, told IRNA on Friday that "there are no technical problems regarding the development of centrifuges."

Despite the international alarm about the expansion of Iran's nuclear drive, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has expressed scepticism about the latest nuclear announcements from Tehran.

"I can't substantiate the claims. There are always multiple claims coming out of Iran about progress on this, progress on that. I don't think the underlying situation has changed," Rice said on Tuesday.
