... and if that logic still works

It doesn't. It didn't then, and it doesn't now.

I never even mentioned Israel other that what Ahamdinejad has said.

Israel is the only country Ahamdinejad has actually threatened to obliterate. When you trot out tired old talking points in defense of a policy that leads to an attack on Iran, it is Israel's water you are carrying. Whether you explicitly say so or not.

Did we go to Vietnam or Korea because we wanted to help the poor citizens there? It was about thwarting a bigger issue... communism. Israel may just be a bunch of poor citizens to you but the bigger picture is Islamic fanaticism. Israel is a battle ground. For the most part if the battle is being fought there it isn't being fought in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Israel is nice bulls-eye because it is situated in the heart of Muslim lands. Muslims remember the rest of the world trying to stop their ambitions in the holyland through many crusades and now the creation of Israel. Even back then it wasn't about Jews... it was about influence and asserting religious domination.

Which is irrelevant. Unlike the United States, which publishes military plans and new strategies with 5 minutes of being discussed, most other countries keep their real agenda locked behind closed doors. I doubt he would be building a 6,000km range missile to hit Israel.

excatly... if it were only about Israel they would be building 1500km missles not 6000km

I think we'll do better with sticking to recent history, rather than dragging the Crusades into this. The Crusades have absolutely no relevance to a discussion of a fundamentally modern problem - though it has become popular to cite them for political reasons.

I do understand your point about Iran and the madman running the country. We invaded Iraq because we had a feeling we could take that country, thought it would go like the time they invaded Kuwait. If we went in to Iran I am afraid it would be a blood bath. America doesn’t give a ####### what countries do, but if it interferes with money, we will blow them away. America could care less about countries doing in-humane things; take a look at Saudi Arabia. They commit all kinds of crimes against humanity, yet we are kissing their butts all the way to the bank. It is all about money, and making a lot of money. There are a lot of people who made a killing on the war in Iraq; most of the big time players have stock in the companies that are contracted to rebuild Iraq. How sweet is that, Greed baby, the same with defending Israel, it all comes down to MONEY.

Hopefully San Fransisco.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Who said we are going to war with Iran anyway. Why is it we are the bad guys whenever someone like Iran creates a new weapon etc.

And #6 and Obama would like to negotiate with them..

There's nothing wrong with a pragmatic approach - especially when (on Iraq) they are clearly holding all of the cards.

i agree...no lives are lost in negotiation....war should be the final act..not the first

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Pretty much everyone with left wing views I know always brings up this word. What makes people think they want to 'negotiate'. Building a ballistic missile kind of indicates negotiation is off the table for now.

A nuke is a bargaining chip that grants the regime a guarantee of security against foreign invasion. Isn't that what North Korea has used it for.

I think you have to recognise the realities of the situation - massive financial/military commitment in Iraq. We provide security, the Iraqis have to provide the political structures. Iran has the ear of (and influence over) many of the factions in Iraq.

Its inevitable that they will come out ahead and has been from the get go. Not least if we carry on with our present strategy - there's simply more pressure on the US (financial, logistical, political) than there is on Iran. It costs them nothing to string things out in Iraq.
