Al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui escaped the death penalty Wednesday as a jury decided he deserved life in prison instead for his role in the bloodiest terrorist attack in U.S. history. "America, you lost," Moussaoui taunted.

After seven days of deliberation, the nine men and three women rebuffed the government's appeal for death for the only person charged in this country in the four suicide jetliner hijackings that killed nearly 3,000 people on Sept. 11, 2001.

Three jurors said Moussaoui had only limited knowledge of the Sept. 11 plot, and three described his role in the attacks as minor, if he had any role at all.

Moussaoui, as he was led from the courtroom after the 15-minute hearing, said: "America, you lost. ... I won." He clapped his hands as he was escorted away.

I hope he gets gang raped & beaten every day that he's in prison

You know, Islamic radicalism is alive and well in many of our prisons. He may fit in very well there.

not really, mainly black muslim..moorish science termple etc..he will not fit in or be accepted..also, he never see another prisoner..he is on his way to the supermax in colorado..to be segerated ffor life..

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Wow, really? I thought solitary confinement for that long wasn't legal

i think they have to have a hour exercise or be out of the cell for a shower daily,...at marion...the old supermax, it been on lock down since 1983..all in solidarity confinement...it is not illegal for a federal prison..labelled as a super maxium

Glad that the jury decided not to make an exception in this case and grant the death penalty.

He's had his 15 minutes of fame. Now he can languish in jail, forgotten and irrelevant. The terrorists will have to look elsewhere for a martyr

I agree with you on this one Fishdude. To kill him would only make him a marytor. This way he has the rest of his life to lament his misdeeds. Personally I hope he lives to 120 years old.
