Hello all,

So much to post! I haven't really posted on VJ for a few weeks although I have peeked now and then to see what's up with everyone. It got really lonely without a thread to kill

First off, Jigga and I got married a few weeks ago. No big ceremony or anything. Just a quick in & out thing at a local chapel. We're hoping to do something with our close friends and family next year when things have settled down.

We also just moved into our new place right before the wedding. The new place is 100x nicer. Not so much the apartment itself, but the neighbors are quiet, the neighborhood is full of things to see and do, and everything is walking distance.

We're getting ready to send off the AOS packet finally... just waiting on the medical.

I had all my shots except for varicella (chicken pox) so I went to my new family doctor (thank goodness for insurance) to get it. But she said that I may have an immunity already, so she did a titre. My insurance covers such things (for FREE) so I didn't mind in the least.

That day Jigga felt like he was coming down with the flu. He got feverish but a round of Tylenol broke it and he was feeling okay. Then he starting having issues with his asthma. He took his inhaler and went to sleep.

The next morning, he woke up still having issues with the asthma and had a rash. He wanted to wait and see... chalking it up to one of his bazillion allergies. But I had a really bad feeling about it... so we went to the ER and guess what???

HE HAS THE CHICKEN POX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My blood titre came back the next day... I AM NOT IMMUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But my doc says that since I've already been exposed to him for quite a while, there is no point to getting the shot now. So I am on the same meds Jig is on, and we can only hope that its enough to keep it at bay, or at least minimize my symptoms. I've been on them for a few days now and so far so good.

What a way to start a marriage! Quarantined and hopped up on pills... better than going to Maui!

Now I have to wait for this to run its course before I get the 1-693A done because I'll qualify for either having the pox, or being immune to it. So that sets me back a couple of weeks. :(

Oh well, that's it for now. Glad to be back on VJ and hopefully we can get this AOS thing moving quickly.

Peace & luv to all, and congrats to all the recent reunions and approvals! :luv:

thanks guys,

so far jig's only complication is the asthma. he hadn't experienced a real attack in years but the new inhaler is really fab so all that should clear up soon.

oh, and if i could tie his hands up so he could stop sneaking a scratch here and there.

its bad to get it as an adult so i am keeping a close eye on him.

QUARANTINE SUCKS! all this pretty weather and we are stuck battling over the last of the rainbow sherbet.

My goodness, you have been busy! :)

Sincere congratulations and commiserations to you both! (F)

What a miserable thing to have happen to you both when you should be out and about enjoying your time together as newlyweds. Still, I guess you both could fill some of your time knitting and/or sewing extra large baby mittens for Jigga to wear while he's itchy!

All joking apart though, I do hope he gets better quickly and that you manage to avoid catching it too.

Rainbow Sherbet ... Yum! Never had it until getting to the States and how I love that stuff now! Now if only I could get Twiglets in the States ... well, with them and that sherbet, I'd be in seventh heaven. But oh, those empty calories

All the best,

Sheila

Umm ... perhaps I should have re-phrased the twiglets and Sherbet sentence ... Never tried to eat them mixed up together!:D

Nope, Twiglets are pretty odd looking snack things that people seem to either love or hate. Needless to say, I love 'em!

So, they're ... very hard to describe! Savoury, light, crunchy, brown twig looking/shaped sticks (hence the name). They're about 2 or 4 inches long, thin and tube shaped, but puffed up in places. They're made of ... umm ... wheaty cracker pastry ..?.. which is then coated thinly in something like Marmite/Veggimite (Noooo, not going to try to describe those goops too!) and then baked, packaged, and sold to ... me! Never known anyone try to make them at home, but I suppose it might be possible! Eeeuwwww, that's the best I can do - I'm sure Googling would explain everything much better than I can!

How are you both doing now anyway?

All the best,

Sheila

twiglets sound a little scary now... like a puffy pretzel of sorts with marmite. my sisters went to school in surrey so i actually have tasted it and it was NOT high on my list of favorite flavors.

actually jigga is doing much better. he's fairly crusted off (that sounds so gross). unfortunately, i had to go to the ER last night because i was having bad chest pains that went through to my right shoulder. hurts when i breathe. the ER doctor says he thinks its PLEURISY, which is some kind of chest wall inflammation. but from what i read, it is because of the something else, like a viral infection. so its probably the pox causing complications. i'm not really spotty or anything but that may be because of the meds. after waiting at the ER for FIVE HOURS, i got a prescription for vico and told to follow up in 2 days if i am having trouble still. UGHHHHHHHHH..........

today is our 1 month anniversary, btw... what a hellacious start!!!!!!!!! :crying:

i'm gonna pop a pill now and go back to bed...

if anyone has organs to spare, particularly a lung, PM me please.

i am going to my own doctor tomorrow to see if i can actually figure out what the happy hell is going on.
