The I-751 application is changed by USCIS to a CR-189 for internal processing purposes. The number that is on the back of your check, is the I-751 number. It doesn't work to look up anything on line. The CR-189 number will be the case status number that you will receive when you receive your biometrics appointment letter. That one will allow you to register your case on line for e-mail notification as well as allow you to see the up-to-date status. You may want to look at others who have been transferred to California to see how soon they received their biometrics. California is currently the FASTEST Service Center for getting I-751 applications processed so that is good news. I hope this helps. Good luck.

You can check this thread to find out the different processing times for the different stages of the I-751. You can also add your own statistics to the list.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I DID GET A NUMBER ON THE NOA1 NOT ON THE BACK OF MY CHECK ... IT IS THE LETTER OF EXTENSION AND IS CALLED NOA. THE NUMBER STARTS WITH WAC ... ISNT THIS THE CORRECT NUMBER?

The number on the NOA is the correct number for the I-751 but it is an internal USCIS number only and doesn't work for you to check your status on-line. When you get your biometrics letter you will see that it has a different number with the same WAC prefix. This is the number that you can use to check your on-line status. Ridiculous system and makes no sense - I know!
