Hi all,

This may seem like a silly question because USCIS needs to know about us so personally but with this age of identity theft, I'm curious how you've been sending in your data. It's been two years since we did the Fiance visa and I can't remember anything. Obviously, my hubby has a lot more personal info than he had then - SSN, DL number, credit card numbers - all that can be proof of evidence. Did you black out cc numbers or DL numbers ,etc? I know that these people can probably get all this information anyway but how much should be be providing and how much can we keep to ourselves?

I have to use a credit card print to show that he is an authorized user on my account (he has his own cards as well) but in making a copy of the card, I blanked out the first 3 sets of numbers and left the last 4 that show the card has the same number... Is this necessary? What did you do?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Anne

I would not bother blacking this out, USCIS personnel are not in the habit of stealing ID information.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

I didn't black anything out as in some cases the account numbers become evidence that you are using the same account or that the accounts are joint accounts. They already have copies of my passport, my birth certificate, my SSN, all sorts of other identifying stuff that it just seemed like a waste of time to black out account numbers as well. In fact, I highlighted the ones that showed we used an account jointly.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I had these concerns as well and agree that instructions on how to protect your identity while submitting confidential documents should be addressed in the instructions by USCIS.

I did the same thing, I highlighted the acct #'s and other credit card details that showed we were using jointly.
