I'm beaming too! :D

I'm not positive but I'm thinking the train as well. It's cheaper than the bus and much more pleasant. And obviously much cheaper than flying. At that point I'll be looking at some time off so I can afford a day spent on the train as well.

Then after the interview we'll take the train together back to Toronto, and I'll help him pack up while we wait for the visa to arrive. Then we'll drive down with his stuff. :D

That sounds loverly!!!! :)

What time do they open again? LOL I'm gonna call now.

FINGERS CROSSED GUYS!!! :star:

I bet it's not gonna happen but whatevs

Definitely take the train over the greyhound if you can... the greyhound is pure torture in my opinion.

You should also check out Porter flights from Montreal/Toronto - I know most of the time they aren't that cheap but sometimes they have sales.

My bf just bought a flight from LGA > Toronto (American Airlines) for next weekend and it was only $300. So you can still find flights, don't give up yet!!

Agreed, greyhound sucks, but it's annoyingly a much shorter ride than the train (~8 hours vs. 11, why is that??). Anyway, I booked my train ticket last night. I could have flown for $170 (one-way), but I figured ya can't beat a $61 train ticket. ;) And I won't mind spending a day on the train since we don't "just" have a weekend to spend together.

Scott actually just took Porter to NY this past weekend. It was only around $300. He said the weird thing was going through customs in the States. It must be the only airport you can do that from Canada.

Oh, I just realized you suggested doing Porter for MTL-TO... I hadn't even thought of that. I already booked our train tickets last night. Hmm... I'm going to have to go look and see if I missed out on a good deal... lol

Negatory.

Wasn't melusine going to visit her fiance yesterday? She's probably been traveling. Maybe she can call from the US when she reads all this. Rachel, Do you think that they honored the date your forms were sent back and not the more recent checklist? I guess we'll kinda know based on how soon someone else who's papers were entered the 8th gets a date. I'm still going to try later this afternoon. Although since Laura didn't get a date yet, I'm not very hopeful. How long are they open?

You know, I'm really not sure what Montreal did in terms of timing with our stuff. They entered us into the waiting list very soon after we faxed back our checklist, and I know they already had the paperwork (DS forms & such) from our original fedex, b/c they didn't receive the second set until April 9th. But I don't know what they based it on. Melusine's also took sort of a long time from P3 to eligible. Maybe once they get their date we can make a better guess on that? But Liz did make a good point saying that it seems the trend goes with the eligible date, not the date we actually sent out P3s back, and since you're from the 10th and Laura and Melusine are the 8th, I would think based on that that you all should expect interview dates very, very soon.

Anyhoo, all guesses on my part.

DOS is open till 5. I'd say call later in the day in case MTL schedules the interview today and DOS doesn't get the info till later.

$61 is pretty sweet actually and the train is pretty relaxing. There is lots of space to move around and walk etc. I've taken the train to Syracuse a few times from Toronto and it's longer because there is actually rail traffic (with the freight trains) because of construction in areas and as well at the border they would come onto the train and interview everyone in their seat. If there was a problem with someone, they would take them inside. The border crossing took double what the bus did. It wasn't so bad then, I didn't even have a computer or iPod to get me through in those days and I was fine.

Actually my experience is that the border crossing has taken longer on the bus than on the train! That's funny. But what I really like is that on the train you stay in your seat and don't have to get up and get in line and everything.

And that reminds me, the last time I took the train there was this drunk guy, he must have been drinking the whole ride up, and by the time we got to the border he was belligerent and talking about terrorism and all this craziness. They took him off the train. It was pretty entertaining actually.

I can't wait till Monday to hear if you got your date too! That sucks about your cell phone. On the up side, maybe you'll get an upgrade. My son swam with his cell phone last summer & ended up getting the same phone, but the newer version which had mp3 capability so he was pretty happy about it.

Hope you have a nice visit! How's the weather in sunny California. Wait, don't answer that...lolol
