My sister has been an LPR for over 5 years now and is ready to beome a citizen so she is filing the N-400, Now the question she was asking me is that on the application she has to fill out her spouses information and STATUS which he is living here with her but he is an ilegal alien. She is scared that ICE or who ever else might come and get him to deport him since they know everything about him.... I dont know what to tell her, since I know for sure she cant lie but what do you think we should do, if anyone has any comments or suggestion they will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced

She was petitioned by my dad (us citizen) years back... She is not worried about herself she has no problems with anything or anyone she just wants to become a us citizen to fix her husbands papers and of course to have all the other right as a citizen.. The question is that in the application N-400 that she is filling out, it asks a lot of questions about her husband like where he lives, and if he is a citizen or resident which he is NOT, so she is scared that immigration might come get him and deport him since they know where he lives and all that..

A friend of my wife was in the same situation and was trying to figure out what to do. She eventually got hold of a local Immigration attorney who was able to help her and him both - she became a citizen first and then she got him approved for a green card a little later. Your situation is something that's not too uncommon for Immigrant attorneys - make sure they have handled such cases before hiring them. If she doesn't want to do that first, then disclose all information truthfully - else it all may all come back to haunt her (and her husband). Good Luck

I'm going to agree with the get an immigration attorney before she starts filling out that paperwork.
