I had called the Family and Childrens Services in my county to see what documents I would have to bring in order to qualify. I told them I came here on a K-1 Visa, we're married, I have an EAD and AP and just waiting on my SSN. I didn't mention anything about what my husband makes and she told me because I'm not a perminate resident yet and have no green card, that I don't qualify. I swear, companies and government agencies hire people who don't know what they're talking about. I haven't looked into CHIP's. I didn't even know they had that in my state and I'm in Georgia. I know they have WIC, but I doubt I'll be able to get on that. I'll look into CHIP's though, thank you.

I don't know if this really has to do with the same thing but when I was visiting my husband, before I was a PR and was simply a visitor, I would go to a specific hospital if I got sick because it was in an urban area and they wouldn't change me an arm and a leg. The fee would be so small in comparison to me going to most other hospitals without insurance.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
