I know people on both sides won't or at least say they wont.

But I also thing when the nomination is decided, that in time more will follow behind the democratic nomination no matter who they supported in the primary process. Thats why matchup polls vs McCain right now are a bit skewed.

Maybe - there are a lot of "Reagan Democrats" who will get behind McCain I suspect, because they respect his experience, his willingness to work across the aisle, his military service and his candor.

Check the polls.

Do polls really mesure how many people pick McCain out of spite for the other Democratic candidate?

See post 22

A VJ poll is certainly representative of the American public.

There's plenty of other polls out there - surely you are familiar with google?

The VJ poll suggests that Obama supporters "wouldn't respect the nomination" if HRC is the candidate

I think Dan's reasoning that he expressed made the most sense - if Hillary wins the popular vote and majority of delegates and thereby is chosen as the nominee, he'll support her. What some of Democrats would protest against is if Hillary were chosen as the nominee in spite of Obama winning the popular vote and having the majority of delegates.

Esp since the rumors are out there about a party switch in 2001....

Democrats say McCain nearly abandoned GOP

I've seen the polls your talking about, but your missing my point.

If you were asked these two questions:

Who would you vote for in a Hillary McCain match up?

Who would you vote for in a Obama McCain match up?

Would you choose the Democratic candidate for both questions? Do you think there are some people who would not?

I would reason that without the legitimate votes of MI and FL we'll never really know if either candidate "won" the popular vote or pledged delegates. Lots of Reagan Democrats in Michigan; a lot of Democrats who voted for McCain in the 2000 primary

You imply that a non-O vote is done out of spite. How arrogant.

It's called democracy - you know, being able to pick whomever is the better candidate (to you). Party lines or not.

I don't disagree, but I think think its possible to entirely resolve that issue anymore. But that is something both candidates are going to have to content with, unless they can create a signficant lead in the last few primary races.
