For our case, we got an email on the USCIS site that said our Waiver had been approved but it took Montreal three months, and many calls from our Senator, to start answering our emails about the additional documnets they needed. It's now almost been 6 months since everything was approved and I'm still without a visa. It's a very slow process IMO. I really hate dealing with Montreal, they've got to be the slowest Embassy, and maybe disorganzied too.

Married August 21 2004 in Nova Scotia!

October 19/04 sent I-130.

April 17/08 finally arrive back in New Orleans after 3 years and 8 months.

May 19/08 Perm Resident Card arrives.

July 24/08 Reapply for a new SS card with married name.

August 4/08 Baby daughter born.

Thank you for the answer, and what USCIS site? Montreal told me that it wasn't possible to get info until we were contacted by Vermont. We have sent them everything they asked for so for now it is sit back and wait.

Agreed on both counts. Everyone I've heard of has either called the DOS inquiry line--they sometimes will post the waiver's approval before the USCIS notice comes; or from the USCIS notice, whether by mail or e-mail. Email is faster than the DOS line, but if you don't have that as a tracking the DOS will usually beat the mailed notice.

With Montreal, I've only had luck getting responses to inquiries when my Senate liaison sends it. They won't answer my emails at all. They also take a minimum of three weeks (and usually longer) to respond or process anything at all. They do this with each new piece of evidence too. . .

We got an email from Operator 6 at the Montreal embassy. I had called the DOS and emailed the embassy twice a month until the actual approval of the 221. On Friday the DOS told us that the case was still pending. The following Monday we got the "send us your passport and we'll process your visa" email.

Oh yay! I've gotten emails from him before. And "7" too! "7" is not very good with English grammar or punctuation. :(

All of my correspondence comes from "7" too. Usually his/her replies are short and they NEVER actually answer the question I was asking. Useless I say, useless.

So, did you send them your passport and have you received anything. Cause my senator got that email and forwarded it me. I mailed Montreal my passport and they've had it since January. I even had to cancel a trip cause they had my passport and wont tell me when they're going to return it. It been over three months since they've got all my paperwork and all we ever get from them is to be patient, they're working on it. Dealing with red tape is enough to drive me to drink.

I think I might have good news. Montreal called, they want me to go in for fingerprinting again. They said the visa should be expidited after that. I hope that's good news.
