Good news to hear that you got your IIN from calling NVC. We've been talking about this over in the NVC forum. It is very new...about a week or so. I think it may not yet be completely set-up but soon enough. This will be great once they get it working. its about time the NVC stopped living in the stone age...I mean who writes checks anymore...thats so ridiculous...there is NO bill I have to pay with a check anymore, NVC should've been did this.

Can you send me the link to the "NVC FORUM". A Forum search turned out nothing for me. Thanks.

I received my IV bill yesterday, found out about online payment but didn't have the invoice number. I called NVC, rep gave me the invoice number.

Can you confirm if the Invoice Number they gave you on the phone is also the number in the extended barcode area on the IV fee bill.

That's what I expect it to be... If NVC is giving it out over the phone now (that we know what to call it), that would be just great!

No its not on the payment stub at all. Atleast not on the one I got. My guess is that they would be sending new payment stubs with the invoice number very soon but since its available I wanted to the online feature right away.

Since the online payment system isn't working with the invoice number they gave you on the phone, have you tried using the number in the extended barcode area of the IV fee bill as the invoice number instead? Since they seem to be telling some people it isn't working yet (though the website paints a very different picture), could be that they just gave you a bad number on the phone so the system would reject it. If the system really isn't working, it would reject any number, wouldn't it?

I got my IIN as well, only because my IV bill was sent out two weeks ago and it didn't include it when it arrived so I called to ask for it hoping online payment would be quicker than snail mail. The thing is, I am 100% sure the IIN is correct because it lets me log into the system(step 1) but the website is unable to process the payment(step 2) or give a receipt(step 3) as the site isn't fully up yet. I would be curious to know if anyone else has gotten more answers as to when the system might be available from NVC Phone Operators or Email? I try every morning but to no avail so far.

I've been trying all morning too. I have the invoice identification number and it lets me get through the entire thing except at the end it won't go through because the system is not available yet.

I called NVC and the rep said it is not available yet but to check back everyday. They have been told to give out the number but not a date as to when it will be ready.

I am glad there are more people now with IIN. My IV was mailed on 3/24, I got it on 4/7 but just waiting for few days, maybe online system would be available soon. I hope waiting pays off.

I think I will wait until 4/13 Monday, if its not up I will have to mail payment b/c dont want to delay processing, you guys agree?

It seems like they are really close, b/c they are giving out IIN over the phone now.

I called last night, they can't give a date when the system would be activated.

If someone is sucessful in making a payment, please let us know right away.

Pakmani, I am also going to wait it out a couple days to see if the system goes up. I really don't want to send in my payment now and then have the online payment work and have it be delayed, especially because it'll save us time on the ds-230 barcode sheet. Apparently we can print that 2-3 days after the payment has been processed. Please anyone who gets it to work, let us know. :)

Folks---If the system isn't working with the IIN NVC operators give you nor with the number in the extended barcode (that number doesn't let you go past the first screen?), then I would mail in the money order and use our JSC to print out the DS-230 coversheet immiediately. It could be a month before NVC gets the system up, but it will usually only be 1 week for NVC to process the money order. It is your choice of course what to do, but just realize that NVC doesn't care how many days you wait for nothing.

So the system would allow a credit-card payment? I hope it goes live soon, so that we can all benefit from faster processing!

They should do the same at USCIS to submit I-130 and I-129 and pay their fees... All you'd need would be a scanner and an internet access, and you could then file the original petition before getting the final approval for double checking... even just being able to pay online instead of via check would save time and money. This would speed up procedures and cut costs for all.

I hope that USCIS wakes up to the 21st century and computers soon too!

A very good news, indeed.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

So the system would allow a credit-card payment?

Not a normal credit card payment. The system will accept only chequing or savings accounts drawn on a US bank. If they instituted a credit card payment system, the card companies would keep a percentage of the funds (typically about 2%) and depending on the bank they use to process the credit cards could incur additional fees beyond that. You can still use your credit card account since most credit card companies issue "balance transfer cheques" in the mail. You can then use that routing and account number, however you'll get charged by your credit card company whatever your balance transfer fee and interest rate is. I'd only resort to this if I had absolutely no cash on hand (and no overdraft protection) unless you have a killer promo 0% no fee balance transfer offer on your card.

BTW, I called the NVC today and tried to get my IIN and she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. She put me on hold (to presumably ask someone else) and when she came back she said that the system wasn't up yet and I'll have to mail in my payment once I receive the IV bill. I'll try again next week.

Count someone please post a link to updated James Shortcuts.

I am also wondering if same barcode cover sheet could be used for both DS230 and I-864?

Thanks
