f##k the olympics and the torch too

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Many people have been uncomfortable with China as host for the Olympics ever since this choice was announced I am not sure whether banning countries from hosting the Olympics is a useful tool in objecting to human rights abuses by those countries or not. It's a difficult question. Politics shouldn't have much of a place in sport but yet the prestige of hosting the event has political implications.

Allowing the Nazi propaganda machine to permeate every aspect of the 1936 games, including the invention of the 'torch run' may have helped cement the legitimacy of the party within Germany, or it may have had no noticeable effect, we can't know for sure. However, propaganda can be extremely powerful in persuading a populations to go along with some less than savoury ideas so it's perhaps not totally unrealistic to surmise that the host nation is being sent a positive message about it's country by being chosen at all.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Agreed - the IOC should probably not awarded the games to China. It's not like there weren't any other countries to choose from.

I fully agree on this.. I wish other people start to see that too... if the demonstrations in Tibet recently didn't happen, there would hardly be any protest going on at the moment...

I think it is a damn shame that people actually try to this at the moment with the torch.. what about the people who carry the torch? This is a once in a lifetime event for them, they don't politics, they don't ask for this all... all they dream about is to run with that torch in their hands.

With all these current protests... the Chinese government just laughs at it... like they gonna care.. they had a growth of over 30% last year (the US, for example has only 0.5 percent growth).

Boycotting the Chinese products?? What good will that do? You still use a computer which probably is made for 90% out of Chinese products... your TV, stereo, vcr, dvd player, game console.. all chinese products in it... clothes... cars... just face it... China is one country you will have a hard time not to buy anything at all from... and again, the Chinese government will just laugh at those comments since they will have their economic growth anyways and they still make money.

No, the only people you really hurt with these demonstrations, and maybe with the boycots as well, is those who don't have much money... people who worked hard for this event with little money... the so-called 'low class' people... people who can't do anything about what is happening in political views, who can't do #### about Tibet but people who still live and have to survive in China, the normal people. The other people who will be hurt by all this is the sporters, people who work to an event like this.. all to hear their own people are not backing them up by going there for just a sporting event.

I am all for a free Tibet, rather today than tomorrow, but I do believe this is is not the way to do it... in order to get Tibet free, all countries should do something.. the governments should do something, but that something is not banning this years Olympics and behaving like morons when the torch passes by. Tibet was under Chinese control 10 years ago as well and back then you didn't hear a soul.. If people have problems with China hosting the Olympics, they should have protested back then, not now after everything is set to go already.

The olympics are not politics... it's for sporters... let the governments do the politics, if you don't like what they do, protest to them.. not to this.

f##k china and the olympics...free tibet....

and yes, it is all about politics in china

When China pays for the war in Iraq, we have no leverage with them on human rights issues or the tibet issue. We put too much pressure on them, they stop lending money.

another reason to say f##k china.,....it is their fault we are in Iraq/.//

Well, not to be a party pooper, but people have been protesting China's occupation of Tibet for decades now. It waxes and wanes... but it's definitely not a new thing... And also, people are upset about the whole Chinese interest in the Sudan while the genocide continues...

There are Falun Dafa members sitting outside the UN as we speak in silent protest against Chinese violations of human rights... it's a big ball of wax...

With all these current protests... the Chinese government just laughs at it... like they gonna care.. they had a growth of over 30% last year (the US, for example has only 0.5 percent growth).

This is probably absolutely true though, too...
