guys, a really dumb question. My girl is going to have her medical and she is scared to death of the whole process. Needles, doctors, the whole thing. What do they check for, how do they check for it, do they pull blood, etc? If I can sooth her it would really help.

I appreciate your answers and help !!!!!!!!!

Well... not to scare you or her. But I was injected about 3 damn times when I went for my medical

First was a shot on the left arm (I forgot what for, I think Tenanus or something). Then I had the get blood drawn for the Syphilis/HIV test. THEN I had to get prodded for the TB skin test. I was broken when I left lol, I'm petrified of needles but the doctor was nice.

When I went back for all the results and the envelope I had to get one more shot.

God I NEVER want to do that ever again.

Well, a medical can differ depending on the Dr. but it's a physical. Surely she's had one of those before. Checking your lungs, heart rate, reflexes, perhaps a breast exam and perhaps a vaginal palpation. Maybe not though...again, depends on the Dr. He/She will look in their ears, throat, nose...and basically ask a lot of questions. Part of the medical is a blood test to test for communicable diseases. They will take probably one or two vials of blood. They'll also be taking a chest x-ray. Depending on how old she is, she'll need to have certain vaccinations, however a K-1 doesn't require them until they apply for AOS. Since she's frightened of needles etc. she may be more comforted if she has them in the US before applying for AOS, with you by her side. However, in some countries, they're covered, and if so, have them done there since they can be costly, depending on what she needs.

Tell her that this is all for the best cause...of being together for the rest of your lives! Surely that might bring her some comfort when she's most uncomfortable...
