I received my SS and GC in the mail on Monday April 7th.. I've officially been here in the US with my husband for a little over a month.

Lifting conditions December of '09!! :dance:

I don't know about any of you, but time is just flying by for us! woohoo :thumbs: I guess I'm very lucky considering my family in Canada is only 2 hours away, we just visited last week and are going again tomorrow. B) Honey surprised me with a trip to Hawaii for our second wedding anniversary coming up in a month here, I'm very excited!!

* the guy at POE said it could take up to a year to receive the GC.. weird, mine came in exactly 4 weeks. I hope nobody has to wait a year to receive theirs. Oh and we had to go into the local SSA office and apply for my SS# even though we checked that SS box on the DS-230..

but all is well indeed!

Congrats!! ya the year thing is them just yipping away,lol Congrtas!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
