Im not sure what this means. My fiance got her birth certificate at the NSO. Today she told me she had a choice between authenticated birth certificate or just a birth certificate. I dont really understand this or if she got the right one or if it matters. Anyone from the philippines know what she is talking about or what it means?

e. BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Your birth certificate should be a copy issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security paper. If applicable, you should also submit NSO birth certificates for all your children, even for those who are not applying for a visa. You may call the NSO Information Center at 02-737-1111 to inquire on securing a birth certificate or visit their web site at http://www.census.gov.ph. If the NSO does not have a copy of the birth certificate, you must obtain a statement about its unavailability from the NSO and obtain a certified original copy (not an extract) of the birth certificate from the local registrar in the town where you were born.

It is not specified in the Packet Instructions that the Birth Certificate has to be Authenticated.

Hi! I think she got the correct one because if she request an authenticated bc or just birth certificate, NSO will still give her the same.

What I meant with my above post was, it is not NECESSARY to get a "Authenticated" Birth Certificate from NSO.

US Embassy will accept NSO BC even if it is wasn't authenticated.

If the applicant prefers to prove the authenticity of the NSO BC document. Then by all means he/she can do that. It is such a minimal additional fee anyway to have it authenticated.
