are you gonna apply for the same jobs as illegals? kitchen crew, cleaning crew, or agricultural crew? if that is the case, yeah.. illegals are taking away your right to get a job.. but if that's not the case, I don't see the relationship... u know, I see this a lot.. but I also see VJ is full of IT engineers, people that work in banks, law offices, the government.. I don't see any lawnmower-services people, cleaning crew, people that pick tobbacco, cotton or fruit... so.. again.. I still know that they are here illegaly, but.. I don't see a direct relationship with illegals and takin away the jobs of the people around this forum.. and I don't think it will happen

you know now who's selling the id's? which by the way aren't fake.. the puertoricans.. in my case.. well, not mine, this area case.. they come to work for a couple of years.. they go back to Puerto Rico, to get some extra cash, bam, they sell their ID's for $1500-$2500 bucks.. so from time to time you see a lotta guys that were born in Puerto Rico, and funnily they don't have a boricua accent.. lawl.. so.. what about that? how can you control that? and that's not stealing noones id's.. they are selling it

actually, yes. i have worked in the kitchen, cleaning crew, and done some agricultural work. back when i was a teen, granted, but that's the point. when someone illegal is taking those jobs, that means america's youth has a difficult time getting a job. i'm sure being young and unemployed is not a wonderful idea, nor does it keep one gainfully occupied. plus i believe that kind of work is good for someone young, builds character and makes them more appreciative of what they have later on.

regarding the puerto ricans - you're kidding, right?

It appears that a black market has taken up a void created by the lack of action of our government. I just wonder if the creation of a new type of id will solve this dilemma or if another black market will also pop up in response. This problem is a multi-headed beast and it will never be solved until our elected leaders have the strength to face it. I hope everyone is studying up on their candidates for the next election.

Whether or not Mexicans or Canadians are our neighbours or not, that does not give them the right to come to our country illegally and take OUR JOBS...POINT BLANK!!! How many times are we going to just let them keep coming in and taking what is rightfully ours??? If they want in so bad, then let them do it the right way. Also, I guess people like me who can't even take care of their own children because of lack of jobs due to immigrants taking them is not a big deal to you right? I have been turned down jobs to even flip burgers because I have managerial experience there for no one wants to pay me the "extra little bit" for what I am worth..they rather pay minumum wage to illegals. How sad is that??? Honestly, I really had to think for months and months whether or not I should fight for custodial custody of my children. In the end I had to put my hands down and declare defeat. HOW FAIR IS THAT???? A 30 something year old woman being turned down for a job due to being over qualified...meanwhile the illegals are sat there snickering away. SCREW THAT! They have the nerve to come here for a better life...yet where is my chance at a better life?? A life with my children where they are with me...where I can tuck them in at night? Where I can be the one getting them ready for school in the morning??? Where I can bake them cookies and have them ready when they get home from school??? Why should I have to suffer and my children have to suffer??? Yeah, it was my choice to divorce my husband...but that is irrelevant to the topic. Do you know how hard it is Steven? Not being able to tuck my kids in, or read them bedtime stories? All because I had to give up in the end after over a year of looking for employment??? Stop ###### making things sound better for your own agenda and wake the ###### UP AND LOOK AT THE TRUTH!!! You can tell MY CHILDREN AND ANYONE ELSE WHO IS IN THE SAME POSITION AS ME THAT THINGS WILL BE OK...THAT THE ILLEGALS DESERVE IT BECAUSE THEY HAVE IT HARDER IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY...GOD ignorance must really be bliss...I can't believe that you are defending it..nonviolent?? Doesn't matter if it is nonviolent...ITS STILL A GOD DAMN CRIME!!!! FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD!!!! Yes I am emotional over this, but I have every right to be...my story PROVES THAT I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE EMOTIONAL...ME ALONG WITH SO MANY OTHERS THAT ARE IN THE SAME POSITION IF NOT SIMILAR!!!

I am done here...I don't think anyone can get through to you.

To answer your question, yes I was applying for ALL JOBS! When you need to work, and you can't find any jobs in your field, and your bank account is starting to go way past your comfort level and when I say comfort level for myself, I am talking about getting by and being able to buy the basic nessecities, then one does go and apply for any job that they can get. And, not to mention, someone posted a thread on here a while back ...illegals dont just work in kitchens, and agricultural jobs, they also work in construction where the average worker that IS legal makes approx. 15-20 dollars an hour! I would deffinately take that kind of pay. I don't think that you personally know for a fact that most of vj is full of IT engineers, bank workers, governement workers...etc. I think you may be surprised.

My suggestion would be making sure that anyone that hires illegals gets fined pretty hefty..also, perhaps making a new social security card where your pics will be implented on them and perhaps your finger print. They do that for social services now where you have to get fingerprinted and your pic is taken and then put on the benefits card (at least in NY state they do). These are only a few suggestions. Also, making it hard at customs. I am sure that someone will find loop holes but surely this would decrease some of the problem if not all of it. Also, just another thought, employers should be able to run a check on social security numbers to make sure that there isn't a conflict of information that is given. It would be kind of hard for someone to be working in California to also be trying to get a job in New York..the transportation alone would be a nightmare...lol.

It's symantecs but important nonetheless because

yes, it is semantics, but also partly due to each person qualatative views on what is more right and what is more wrong. <semantically speaking of course>

by using the term criminal implies that we have 11 million felons roaming about as if they are a danger and detriment to society which is utter nonesense ...... Most of the illegal immigrants are here not to wreak havoc but for economic reasons. In my opinion, it's a victimless crime and doesn't deserve them to be labeled as criminal.

last time i checked, oh, which was today on my banks website, economics effected everyone. and you state illegal immigrants wreak havoc economically, so that would mean .. we are ALL .. victims? yep, just checked my wallet and I think that theory has been proven! :o.

What, exactly, is the difference between a felon and a criminal?

A felon is one who comits a felony.

A felony is "One of several grave crimes, such as murder, rape, or burglary, punishable by a more stringent sentence than that given for a misdemeanor"

A criminal is one who has commited or ben convicted of committing a crime

A crime is "An act committed or omitted in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it and for which punishment is imposed upon conviction"

so it would seem to mean a criminal has committed a less severe form of law breaking than a felon.

not me personally but when i spend a year and lots of money to have my wife here LEGALLY and then she can't get a simple job because illegal immigrants have taken it .. then it does become what i would consider a crime of stealing.

and for the record, my wife did become a member of a "kitchen crew" as you state it.

when VJ spouses come to the us they may not all have the skillset for white collar jobs. and seeing as being here legally doesn't guarantee you a job why should we NOT complain about jobs being taken by illegal immigrants? I think it is ignorant to assume low class jobs are not wanted by legal residents, and that illegal immigrants are doing the economy a favor by taking these types of jobs. In fact, they hurt the economy by taking jobs and sending money out of country where a legal resident could be doing the same job and spending money in country, thus contributing more to the economy (not to mention tax contributions).

I agree with that last statement. To generalise that agricultural crew, kitchen crew, and jobs of the like are for immigrants and not for ppl like anyone on this forum is way off the mark. I will take any job I can get at the moment if I was back in the states. But to be quite honest, after being turned down job after job on account of not wanting to pay me what I am worth and they would rather pay ppl the lower wage, it is quite demeaning and makes me feel very depressed. This is a big issue here. Let's keep in mind that it isn't just the jobs that they are taking, its also taking advantage of our better healthcare and then not paying the bills. I remember a few years ago watching a dateline show (i believe it was dateline or could have been 60 minutes) where the topic was illegal immigrants and the rammifications they had on our country. You are talking millions upon millions of dollars that they are costing us. There was even a family that was on there that was from Mexico that said that they couldn't pay their hospital bills for fear of deportation.

I am all for ppl trying to make a better life for themselves and their families, but do it the right way. What they are doing is outright stealing and fraud!!! They are stealing from the very hands that feed them. Now they are looking the gift horse in the mouth and they are wanting amnesty, they are wanting to be treated like real human beings, and want respect. I am sorry, but growing up, I was taught that honest to good humans don't steal, and they EARN respect. Don't come into the country whether thru the front door or the back door and ask for more than what you deserve. If you break the law...you should be punished NO MATTER WHAT your personal life is like....should have thought about that before you broke the law!! There are other avenues which one can take in order to make a better life for themselves.

This is in reference to MR4422 btw...lol soz

well, what about the legal residents that send money outside of the country? in that case they are also hurting the US economy...

I do agree that illegals aren't doing a favor to the American economy by taking the low class jobs.. but i was basing my point on the fact that to bring ur wife/husband or fiance(e) there's a minimum income that guarantees the living of both while the immigrant gets a job somewhere.. so, there's no need for the USC or immigrant to sub-exist working full time in a Mickey D's.. not saying that its a low job, because I also worked in a Mc Donalds when I first started working here.. but, I guess it's my opinion..

Anyway, yes.. It's a pain, and I'd sure be mad if an illegal would get a job in which I could get paid 15 an hour but since he's illegal he gets payed 12 or 11 and doesn't care.... and in an extraordinary case, I'd probably go back to Mac Donalds, or go to work to the fields picking fruit or something.. but I know there are other opportunities..

Oh.. and the puertoricans selling their id's to illegals.. that's not new.. it's been happening for a while. just not everybody knows lol.. well, now u do.. but in that case? what can be done?
