Do you think there would be a enough time to get off a plane from Asiana airlines that arrives at 4:35pm, change terminals (i assume) to american airlines to depart at 5:35pm?

(this is with carry-on bags only)

I think you do have to change terminals - you do not have to go through immigration but you do have another security check (I think). It might be a bit tight, but if the airlines are willing to book this connection you should be able to make it.

apparently I had my stop over at NRT Tokyo on my way here in US. It's a freaking way huge airport (considering it was my first flying experience  ). They have mono rail to save you time from going to one terminals to another. Just read the signs ( they have it in english translations) or ask for assistance if needed. Goodluck!

ya that's the thing. it would be booked separately (LA tokyo, tokyo LA would be one already paid for) then i wanted to throw a week in korea in there but the only flight back to tokyo that day would make it one hour before coming back to LA.......

At least you're not connecting from Tokyo's metropolitan airport. NRT is quite a ride out of the city.

I do not remember having to clear security last time I connected there.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

You do if you change terminals

yes, unless i can do some sort of online check in ahead of time with american airlines .....

Unless you can, that connection would make me very nervous

okay it does look like they are in different terminals. (ugh!) does it take a while to take the shuttle between terminals? its not looking hopeful!

I'd allow at least a half hour - when you factor in that they will probably close the gate about 10-15 minutes before the flight leaves it does seem risky - I personally wouldn't do it (but then I am a very nervous traveller)

Here's the link to the Narita International Airport website itself. Inside you'll find several sections that might answer your questions:

I really like their website. It seems quite user-friendly and very helpful. It's a lot better than most of the airport websites I've seen, many of which are either poorly constructed or unnecessarily confusing. I'd definitely take advantage of the fact NRT's website is so well developed.

i did check their website. i was just really asking for personal experience from people if they thought the transfer time was feasible as far as checking in, shuttle time, etc. it sounds like its not so i will look for something that arrives earlier.

thanks though! :)
