Since this is a vibey day...I'll repost what I said earlier (in the closed thread) in response to why VJ isn't what it use to be....because I think the same answer applies.....

That sentiment comes and goes on VJ...this is not the first time I've heard this...I even felt it myself from time to time. But ever since I've been on VJ I've seen people complain that VJ just isn't what it use to be. So that's over two years of "VJ isn't what it use to be." Message boards are organic...and they go through waves of tension. It's not unique. All messages boards are like this. You can decide to go....that's your choice. You can also decide to take time away from VJ, which is what I've done in the past. People come and go and when a wave of people go, another wave come in and change the atmosphere. OR you can just be a lurker like some ex-members. *shrug*

As far as nasty PM's....well, I'd dump them and put the offenders on my block list so you can't get PM's from them anymore. And I wouldn't take too much too seriously.

Anyone who would send you a negative PM out of the blue, crazyinegypt, is miserable and has nothing better to do. I've had similar things happen to me, too, so I feel your pain. Best advice is to let them be miserable while you stay happy with your SO. :)

I agree with Frances...but I also think that we're also all frustrated & sometimes tensions can run high...

However, I also think that text sometimes is hard to take vs speech..and sometimes it's easy to get misconstrued. Plus, there are some people who act differently online rather than in person...so what might never be said for fear of offending someone in person is ok online. I think it makes people ballsier.

But these things happen, and ya gotta expect it from time to time. It's real, in a way....nothing will be sweetness & light 24/7 imo *shrug*

As far as nasty PMs, well that's really sad. I have no explanation for that!

I think both of those points are true....I hope I am the same online as in 'real life'...it took me a while to find my feet here on VJ cos I am a naturally shy person, as in my usual life the more comfortable I feel with people the more confident I become.

Yeah, I agree...I had a nutter send me something really nasty.... and when I reported the PM to Wookie, and she got a suspension, she created another ID (as a man, from another country) and she tried it again, except this time Wookster saw it was the same IP and banned her IP. D'oh...why would anyone go through the trouble of making a new ID just to harass someone in PM's.....sorry, sorry people.

I so have never gotten a nasty PM.

As far as the mood on here... I don't know. I think a lot of people need to learn that tone isn't something you'll ever get on the net (so you miss a lot of sarcasm) and that even when some of us are arguing a point to the death there is a certain amount of respect there, and that's all it is: a debate. No biggie.

However, I will say there are some nasty people that pop up out of nowhere (TROLLS) that like to stir up poo. (different from flinging poo cuz we all have fun with that). Those people are nasty.

If I made any sense congratulate me, I'm running on 3 hours sleep and I'm trying hard to stay awake right now :P
