How can you pick up your visa at the embassy when its ready i know it can be done i just don't know how.

When the consul said that my visa is approved, I asked for a visa pick up and handed him a letter request my husband (then fiance) prepared. Stating therein the reasons for the pick-up. I was given a pink slip. After 2 days, I received a call from the embassy and was told that the visa is available.
