Evaluating my wife's diploma (WES)

Hello!

I am trying to evaluate my wife's diploma, through WES, however they require a copy sent from ministry of education in russia. And ministry of education russia wants original diploma, she got the diploma less than 2 years ago, I'm not gonna fedex that document around the world.

Any other choices?

I had AACRAO do the job for me. I just sent in copies of my credentials which includes transcript of records most importantly among other pertinent documents.

You might want to consider their service. Others had WES too so whichever you prefer.

For what specific purpose should you be using the evaluation? The reason I ask is because there are some universities and colleges (especially for higher education admissions and registration), or even companies which require evaluation coming from a specific accrediting board. Make sure you check with the university or college if they have preferences.

The university (and the department) I applied at for my master's degree only honor AACRAO, the document comes with a fancy finger mark/print with seal to prevent fraudulent replication or tampering with the document etc.

And one thing I liked about this organization is that I was able to contact them thru email with prompt replies every time I have questions. They also provide a forum for discussion regarding policy initiation and development, interpretation and implementation at the institutional level and in the global educational community. I was able to join the forum and discuss a few things about the education system in my country and how it pars with the US.

I just thought I should add this information before you finally decide what's best for you and what's appropriate for your purpose.

I got my diploma verified thru WES as well. I contacted my university and send them the consent letter which they sign and attach the diploma and transcripts and send it directly to WES (this was what WES required). I got my evaluation in less than 2 weeks after my university submit the documents.

(You have to submit your on part of the documents...check on the WES-webpage).

Can your wife not contact her school in russia?

The issue is that WES doesn't accept anything from russian schools anymore, only from ministry of education in russia. And russian ministry of education can only verify by sending them the original diploma by fedex/dhl and praying it comes back

I used www.ece.org and I got the general report (needed it for grad school which I am thinking about). Sent them a copy of my diploma with English translation and that was it! Got the report in about a month's time.

Have to say they did try to make me believe the school I was interested in required subject-by-subject comparison and which cost additional $$$ but after checking with school I found out this was not true so told them to go ahead and just do the general one.
