Presidential Election Subforum?

That wasn't exactly what I had in mind, no.

I do like the idea of a non moderated sub forum, anything should be allowed and the faint hearted who prefer kittens and flowers don't need to visit. It could be interesting.

To make sure one or two disruptive people don't fukc it all up, all posters may vote a poster off the forum, revoking their access for a week or more!

That would be cool.

Captain, any chance of implementing one of the ideas pretty soon?

I'd be for the three individual threads (cause that's less work for you too!); one for each of the potentials and maybe a spare for other political threads that don't quite fit.

I'd be happy to do some merging and start some threads if it would help.

I can't say I am in favor of merging threads - a sub-forum from Off Topic, fine.

I like the political topics - a lot of others apparently do to or they wouldn't post in them.

I can't say I am in favor of merging threads - a sub-forum from Off Topic, fine.

I like the political topics - a lot of others apparently do to or they wouldn't post in them.

Well, in all honesty it is the same handful of people posting the stories. Over and over. And over. And over....

I don't care which way we choose to go, sub forum or 3/4 threads dedicated to politics. I was just thinking of less work for Ewok.

I don't care which way we choose to go, sub forum or 3/4 threads dedicated to politics. I was just thinking of less work for Ewok.

And people comment on them. If they don't, the thread dies and goes away .

Just about any post in OT could fall into the 'political' category. I think if the author of the thread would be able to select a category label they feel is most appropriate when they post it and then for the viewers to have a filter option for only viewing the categories they are most interested in would be great. Capt. Ewok already has similar features (filters) so I don't think it'd be that difficult to implement. Also, the organizers could actively move threads if they morph from one category into another.

Whaddya say, Capt.? I think it would be worth a try.

Oh I agree with your "if they don't, the thread dies and goes away" quote. The main issue that people have is that it can become overwhelming to someone who isn't interested in politics. They go to OT and see the whole first page is of political threads - that doesn't happen with illegal immigration, muslims, sex, strippers, spankings etc . It's put many off taking part in OT so the suggestion of a political sub-forum or the separate threads is warranted and needed, imo.

I think one "Politics" forum is plenty. No need to break it down further, especially since the whole reason people are posting these political threads is to get the other side riled up. Nobody's interested in real, intelligent political discussion, so a separate "Obama" sub-forum would look pretty much like a separate "Hillary" sub-forum, just with different names and flames. Keep it all under one forum, that would be the easiest thing to do.

I don't see the problem with a politics subforum. Plenty of other forums have them.
