Is liberal guilt the reason why women become porn stars?

Certainly the latest liberal band-wagon..

I thought it was the $$$

Of course. Liberal 101 thinking.

Porn profit = good

Exxon, health insurance, legitimate corporation profit = bad bad bad

Then we can also go off-topic and discuss how based on the porn coming form the US so many countries and groups aboard hate us since they consider it as having a negative influence on their society.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I thought the Germans had cornered the market on the golden showers subspecialty.

Well - I would suggest that some of the posters here who like porn are card carrying members of the Republican Party. Don't know if they suffer from liberal guilt or not.

I was watching the adult film awards not to long ago just to see what the low-lives say / do. Well the the usual ####### against conservatives and Christians was thrown out. What I had a good laugh about was when they approached the stage to accept their ward for ugliest #### ##### etc. They had nothing to say apart from giggle and say thanks for the award. I thought that is right losers. You are a piece of #### who is about as useful as Paris Hilton.

I actually felt sorry for them. I mean look at Oprah and then look at the those who work in the porn industry like Joe Francis.

I'm sure they'd appreciate knowing that some of them have your sympathy. Why not send a card? You may not want to include "low-life" or "loser" in it, though--that's just not polite.

And you read Playboy for the articles, right?

Again, I must be really odd for a male, but I actually did end up reading Playboy for the articles. That wasn't my original intention, however. I started perusing the magazine because my Dad had a free subscription to it and I was young (probably somewhere in my teens), so the image of highly sexualized and naked females definitely appealed to me.

However, it soon became boring. The women looked too good (which is because they were airbrushed, something I didn't know back then) and they merely stand or sit in multiple poses intended to be provactive. As I said, it's fun for a little while (especially as a sex-starved teen), but how much "T&A" can one guy see -- that he can't actually interact with -- before it becomes a yawn-fest.

Besides, I wasn't dumb. I knew the women in the magazine had absolutely zero interest in me; they didn't even know I existed and were doing this for a paycheck. Not that I thought it was wrong, but after a few centerfolds, the whole thing became rather impersonal.

So in the end, before I gave up on the magazine entirely, I actually did read the articles (which weren't that good, to tell the truth). Playboy is a lot like softcore porn movies in my opinion. It fails to really satisfy a specific audience. Those who want a real movie, with an engaging plot, interesting dialogue and three-dimensional characters won't find it there; likewise, those looking for some serious pornographic action will fail to see any as well. It just frustrates both.

I'd say Playboy is doing something right. Although it's famous for its airbrushing (or the current equivalent), plenty of people like that aspect of it. It is a fantasy, after all. Not everyone wants to see imperfections of any kind (or indeed fluids). Also, Playboy is on the vanilla end of the "adult entertainment" spectrum. And it does have good articles and fiction, or at least it used to. Because of this, most people wouldn't question the taste of a Playboy reader but might wonder about someone who is a big fan of, say, Hustler. Like, Playboy is an acceptable, if sorta lame, guilty pleasure, but Hustler is seen as somewhat perverted.

I'm reminded of an article I read last year about the porn industry's concern regarding HD TV. I guess if you're a realist, you wouldn't mind seeing skin irritation from butt shaving, but then again, true realists probably aren't regular consumers of porn (at least the standard kind) to begin with.

Actually Playboy has had some good articles and short stories in it. I don't know if that's still the case.

Actually, what's the proper pluralization of "low-life"? Big Ag?

I'd say lowlifes (no hyphen). :)
