I eat his kind for breakfast. Forget about him.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

The only thing you really have accomplished is convincing us that your IQ is very lacking.

This is such a great thread! I am so thankful that you started this thread bridget! I do not feel so totally alone now. There are a lot of good suggestions for all of us that is in a MENA marriage. My favorite sayings to my husband are: this is not jordan! or America is NOT the movies and life is NOT perfect here! I try to breathe deeply and slowly to remain calm and let things slide by that are so annoying before speaking. Never in my life did i ever exepct it to be this hard. He has been here 2 years and its still not easy. Try and take one day at a time and find all the patience you can. But remember somewhere you have to draw the line and make them become self sufficient on their own. It takes a lot of teaching and holding their hands all the time on everything and i mean everything is just totally different than anything they have known before. Takes a lot of patience and even more deep breaths! try to focus on the love and not the aggravation and frustration that comes along at times too. As in any marriage its a big adjustment. Just seems bigger than ever once they are here and you are living it.

:luv: Good Luck!

Here's my contribution Bridget

I'm just now getting what you guys mean with the getting frustrated with the English... mine didn't speak ANY english when he arrived, so our situation has been a little different. If we had to deal with too much culture shock on top of the language thing, I think it would have done us in. He lived in Europe for 10 years, alone, cooking, cleaing, and no female relatives to look after him so I got lucky on that end.

Currently, my husband has taken to having hissy fits if I slip up and speak another language besides English. I am very sick of having to talk slowly with very select words  He is also convinced that in 4 months, he should be fluent by now and it's my fault he is not  He has refused ESL courses as well bc he found work right away with someone fluent in English, Arabic, and Spanish. This guy speaks in Arabic all day or trys to teach him Spanish (he's Pakistani) So the only time he ever gets any English is with me, so I see his side of it.... but it has caused alot of arguments :innocent: His boss will be going on vacation for 1 month soon, and I am currently trying to convince him that an intensive ESL course would be a good way to spend his time

Besides the other normal adjustments and things other women have commented on, I have been sick for 3 of the 4 months, hospitalized off and on, and we have been sharing 1 car which means I'm on the bus bc he works so far away. Despite all this, he is my world and my heart and I wouldn't trade it for anything :luv:

I know I will get slaughtered for saying this but why aren't there any threads from men complaining about their foreign wives? My point is we don't complain. And I don't see too many foreign brides complaining about their US husband except some in the Canadian threads but Canada is too much like the US I guess. OK am am ready to be told how terrible I am now and let me appologize upfront.
