There has been much debate and speculation about whether or not an interview is now required. Example if you dodge the bullet the first round, when you go to remove your conditions you get pegged for an interview. OR if you did not get so lucky the first time around and had an interview you might/ might not have one when you remove conditions.

Well, I we dodged the bullet the first time around (no interview on Change of Status) when they found out she was pregnant the interview was canceled. Long story on that one. Now I just got an e-mail stating that a card was ordered on April 4th and to allow 30 days for it to arrive (I figure I should realistically get it this week) So this time no interview, no interview invite and we DID file after the magic July whatever it was date (filed Dec 12) And we are about 3 months ahead of what the California Service Center says processing times are for that one (the web site last said they were processing Sept 17)

This is the NORM.

Please read the disclaimer in I-751 guide.

You may or may not be called for an interview after you submit this form. Procedures have been in flux for the past year or so regarding biometrics collections (fingerprints, and photo) and you may get a letter sending you to your DO or ASC for this service--this is not an interview. Simply follow the instructions that YOU receive from USCIS and don't worry too much about other people's situations. Yours is the one that counts for you. If you are selected for an interview, it will be at your local USCIS office, not at the service center. Most typically, you have already had a biometrics appointment before your notice of approval, and your new Green Card will be mailed to you.

FAQ:

7.7) ..Is there another interview required to lift my conditional status?

A.. Although the vast majority of jointly filed I-751s do not have an interview, you may indeed be required to attend an interview. Some files are selected for a sort of quality control check on the system, and may be transferred to the Local Office for interview. These cases may receive an RFE from the local office, and then find that the interview is cancelled. There is also a growing number of people being called for interviews (4/07) and there is a suspicion among the online community that PRs who did not have an AOS interview (via transfer to CSC or via the DORA program) may be automatically put in the interview queue for I-751.

At any rate, there should be no automatic assumption of a problem just because you get an interview letter.

Is there another interview? There can be if they did not interview you the first time around. There has been a LOT of speculation as to whether or not the second interview is required if you "dodged the bullet" the first time around. you are required the second time around if you filed after July when the fees went up (that was the speculation) I just proved you don't have to. Just have lots of kids really fast.

Yes, there has been a lot of speculation about that. However, our list on VJ shows that not having interview during the AOS stage does not necessarily mean you will be interviewed during the I-751 stage.
