Anyone have any experience with this?

I don't really know if it will help hurry along my case or not but I figured I would try anything and everything.

My case is still at the VSC waiting for approval. I'm really nervous about the next step though.

I thought getting everything ready for the I-130 was a lot of work. The more I read it seems like the NVC part of the process is the most complex..

Sorry, my post jumps around a lot. Just musing on a Monday morning.

You know this really depends on your congressman. Most legislators offices are so overwhelmed with these types of inquiries, that they usually have a gatekeeper to assess your situation before they will actually make an inquiry. If your case is within normal limits, they really won't do much. In your case, your wife's pregnancy certainly helps. If you have a high risk pregnancy situation, you can request a medical expedite. I would certainly contact your legislators and ask their particular procedures, sometimes they have a form to fill out on their website. You can write a letter and send all of the information about any extenuating circumstances, medical docs, etc. You might actually reach someone who is human and helps out. My legislators were actually great after I lost my unborn child and USCIS treated me like nothing had happened to me. I'm waiting for my case to get to NVC now.

Good luck!

I guess it just depends on if u have a real reason to try to get it done faster in most cases they dont do anything..well in our case they didnt but we dont have any medical problems going on either.........but if u have a good congressman or senator then u can try it

good luck to u

Just got a canned response letter yesterday.

Looks like he didnt do anything but sign his name(if that)

So frustrated with all this sh!t.

Probably doesnt help that I live in Texas where there is a large number of Mexicans trying to immigrate here.

I'm sure he sees letters like mine every day.

To be honest I'm not really pissed about him not doing anything. I expected as much.

I'm more pissed at this whole freaking process.

This whole thing is such Bullsh!t.

Exactly, don't sweat it! I doubt that congressmen can do much... Normally they just act on late applications that probably would get approved presently anyway... Your situation is probably straightforward, and you are still well within USCIS timelines, so you can only wait, but considering your situation it is worth a try, you never know..

I am sure you'll get your approval by the end of next month! Consider how to speed up your NVC process (shortcuts or at least line up all the info/documents in advance) and you'll be fine!

Good luck

I agree, this process can be so frustrating and soul-destroying.

We sent our I-130 in mid Dec but we've been told not to expect approval before June.

We havent written to our congress man yet but we were planning to if it goes past the 6 month period. Given the generic response you and most others get Im doubting it will help our case either tho.... :(

I concur with what others have said. If you are within the normal limits and there are no complications, then they are not going to help. If you have any concerns about your wife's conditions though, that would be important to note.

I just received the letter back from my congressman's office with a letter from the VSC with the approval after he contacted them. They did intervene on my behalf and I am very thankful. Life has its events that cause one to suffer, but suffering with the involuntary separation of one's family is inhumane.

I wish you the best, I know it is hard.

I also considered moving when my case was going nowhere and said if it hadn't progressed by the end of the year that we would do that. It's something that we've always talked about though. For my husband, he's better off where he is. I just can't speak French (though I do speak his indigenous language and am conversationally fluent) and one needs French to teach in the universities. I could teach ESL, but why waste all of this education...so the choice is here for now because he does speak English. With the economy going the way that it is, we might all be trying to move soon :-)

I wish you a speedy approval to be with your wife and new blessing soon!!

Just trying to muster the energy (and the money) to do this again.

well I dont know if its any consolation, but it took me about 4 months before I recieved and approval for my I-130 so just hang loose I think and hope it will happen soon for you. To be honest I didnt think I would even recieve an approval for my I-130 for 6 months past filing but i was pleasantly suprised and Im so thankful for it that it came when it did. I hope the same for you. I hope your approval comes very soon. If it gets past 6 months of your NOA 1 date i'd definitely make a stink about it though. But yes as you said the NVC process which Im going thru now is just as much or more as far as compiling paperwork etc...word to the wise have your wife get all the documentation yall need now while ur waiting so there's not any further delay in processing. take care bro my heart goes out to you I know how it feels to have the everlasting love of your life away from you so i feel for you!

Not much he can do until seven months pass. I had all ppwk finished waited till seven month mark then had my congressman call. We got NOA2 twelve days after he called. So it took almost eight months to get past the USCIS. Be patient, it will happen!!!

Got the reply from my congressman today.

I wont type it all in, but it basically said, we are slow and have done nothing with your constituents application.

I don't know about any of you, but this does not meet my definition of information.

It basically says NOTHING !

Anyway, this will set your expectations, I hope you get better information.

I am replying to my congressman to ask him "Do YOU think this is an answer? I don't want to know what they have NOT done, I want to know when they plan to process my application and schedule a visa."

My congressman was very helpful for me. I was shocked how much trouble their assistant went through. I would write her emails and she would write me back within an hour or less. One day we sent emails back and forth with information most of the day. She called all over the place trying to get info to help me and she called NVC. My husband is not here yet, but my case has made a lot more progress. Not sure, but maybe my case was more unique because I could add the problem of my husband's life being in danger if he was forced to go back to his home country and his stay is tenuous in the country he is in. I just thank God they helped.
