Alf's interview is in 13 hours, 14 minutes and 42...41....40 seconds. I can't sleep. I'm a mess! I'm trying not to worry too much, but yeah.. that isn't happening. I don't think we really have too much to worry about logically. We're going through an 'easy' consulate. We have everything we need, plus some. I don't feel like there will be any question about the validity our relationship, I am very close to the 125% above poverty line alone, and have a co-sponser who well exceeds. I guess the thing that is making me sick with worry is knowing that no matter how much we love each other, and no matter how much I need him here with me, it's completely out of our hands and in the hands of a stranger. I am on the verge of tears and it's about 239487234234234 different emotions. I can't believe that after all this waiting and being apart, tomorrow afternoon we will have our answer.

If we get that magic little 'yes', I will be in his arms for good on Thursday morning.

This has been the most frustrating, infuriating, stressful, wonderful thing I've ever experienced. It's such a strange process, emotion-wise. The waiting is excrutiating, but at the same time, in going through this together I know I will always apreciate being with him and never take him for granted.

Thank you all so much for being here. I know I don't post much, but reading and lurking (and of course reading the guides and examples!!) has helped me more that I could ever explain.

12 hours, 58 minutes, 42 seconds... aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh :crying::dance::wacko::blink::thumbs:

No, thank you for your heartfelt comments. We are all here to help each other and can certainly sympathize with what you are going through. I can't remember the last time Vancouver turned someone down but if it makes you feel better, there are few of us night owls around, even at this hour to keep up your spirits. Hang in there, we all feel the same. Just don't let the bureaucracy define your love or your existence and you'll get through this. Paper pushers want paper, give them what they want and they will give you what you want. Tomorrow afternoon it will seem comically trivial.

The visa process can be full of emotions!! best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Oh yes, that is the crux of the matter all together - a total stranger has this right to make what feels like a life and death statement about your life and your future!

Good luck to Alf at his interview - it sounds like you two are well prepared - and we are all looking forward to your "happy dance" post that he has been approved. Hehehe, tonight, you might be too happy to sleep :P

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I wish Alf the best of luck. I remember the gammit of emotions, we all do so we can relate. Kathryn is right you may not be sleeping for happiness tonight. Hope he calls you soon to give you the news. I would say don't think about it right now, but of course I know that is impossible. Keep busy until you hear from him is all I can say. And think of the things the two of you can do once he gets here in a couple of days that might keep you occupied

I know exactly how you feel ... I have gone through all those emotions too. I'm sure all of us here have. It's so frustrating to have our lives held in limbo for what's going to end up close to a year and it all culminates with that one interviewer holding the key to our happiness. It's just not a good feeling at all no matter how clean our records are or straightforward our case is and how wonderfully organized our files are...there's still that "what if". On the up side, they rarely ever deny anybody their k-1 and the few reasons I've seen (at other consulates too mind you), the people are able to rectify the situation fairly quickly and be on their merry way. There really aren't many (if any) roads that lead to a dead end. So chin up!! He's going to do just fine and will be in your arms soon. Bleh talk about being a mess...I teared up just typing that. Sheesh!

Go have yourself a coffee so you're awake when he calls with the good news!!!

3/5/11 sent LOC paperwork

My mother couldn't understand why I took today off from work. "You're not going to Canada.. what's the point?!" I can't concentrate on anything.. I'm a pharmacy tech.. sorry mom, don't wanna kill anyone today!

I need to try to get out of the house. Retail therapy might be in order! Thanks again.. *hugs to everyone*

I will be posting all the details as soon as I can!

Congrats....ahead of time!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to you for tomorrow, keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Aaralyn do post and let us know once you know and have calmed down enough to type. And I for one understand you taking the day off, because you can't concentrate (even though it was me doing the interview), I know it was a hard day for my husband until I called him with the news, I think you made the right choice taking the day off for sure.
