Oh, and Manhattan politicians are almost 100% Democrat. You should really visit here and tell me if the majority looks rundown to you.

Rudie is generally given credit for turning NY around. Few can argue that is was in bad shape before he took over.

Um, wealth cleaned up New York. Minneapolis is also wealthy (although not to the same degree).

Most big cities (outside the South, but even there) are run by Democrats. I invite you to visit Minneapolis. It's beautiful and you'll hardly see ware and tear. Run by Democrats. I think you'd really like it there. Except for the high level of education there -- you might feel uncomfortable when you find your ideas are unpopular there.

Minneawhere? I thought that was a highly liberal city anyway. Of course my ideas would not be popular there.

Nothing special about Manhattan. I have never heard anyone be like WOOOOOW when they visited Manhattan. It is quite average actually. And trust me, people from Sydney or Melbourne hardly have a problem buying property there.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Yes, and RG policies helped create that wealth. He also helped by fighting crime that also helped neighborhoods come back. We can argue this although I doubt if it will change your mind. Just look at cities that are doing well compared to cities that are not. The majority of cities that are doing poorly have been run by dems and the majority of cities that are doing well are run by reps. There are exceptions of course but as a general rule that hold true.

The point about Minneapolis was that it's clean, wealthy, and Democrat-run. Republicans have nothing to do with whether or not a city is rundown.

Manhattan is average what? Major city on an island in the Eastern United States? What's your point with people buying property here. The dollar is weak, and we all know it. Oh sorry, was this one of those "Australia is utopia yet I can't bring myself to go back already" posts?

The dollar is weak, yet the Australian dollar is still worth less than USD.

I bet I can buy a huge condo in Sydney for the price of an average one in Manhattan

The city is run down. Anyway, Manhattan is only one section of a city. How many other cities are run by Democrats yet look like they are located in a 3rd world nation.

How many times have I heard how NYC is the best city in the world bla bla bla. So I asked a person once where have you actually been. I have been to LI but that is about it. No #### you will think it is the best city in the world.

Australia is not a utopia but it sure as hell shits all over NYC and nobodyapolis.

One would think so when considering the US Population is 300,000,000 when compared to 21,000,000. What about the Canadian dollar or the Pound.

Dems have 'more important' issues to worry about such as apologizing for slavery, again. And then blaming republicans for everything else.

Long Island as we use the term is not part of New York City, although part of the city is located on that island. Either way, it is all suburban and not all of it that nice. The parts of New York City on Long Island are not our nicest parts. So either you are making this person up, or the person you talked to was not very well informed. (I think it's the former.) Another case of you running your mouth without understanding what you're talking about, I see.

I'm sorry that you feel a city of 2 million is too small to count as a place, but that's about average for an American city (bigger I suppose) so I'm not sure why you feel it falls outside the purview of your generalization.

Then I'm sure you're able to come up with just a few, as well as the reasons it was Republican leadership that led to a successful city and not existing wealth.

Philadelphia (D)

Baltimore (D)

Washington DC (D)

LA (D)

Detroit (D)

to name a few

I also bet all of the cities with the highest crime rates will most likely have Democrats in charge..
