We got our NOA1 and now I'm trying to think ahead... military records? How does he get that? Write to the French govt? Is there somewhere you can go to get all records you will need? Also police records... he hasn't been living in France for more than 20 yrs (he's been in Canada), if he had any violations there can he call the courthouse in Paris and get them to release anything they have?

What about medical records? Does he need to get those together? From Paris and Canada? Or will they just use their own examination?

Should we find the forms they will send to us next and start filling them out and making sure we have everything they need?

Can you tell I'm getting excited?

I just want to be prepared...

I'm a USC married to a french man who has been living in Canada for about 20 years.

March 25, 2008- Mailed out the I-130... finally!!!

April 4, 2008- Received the NOA1!!!

Sept. 2008 We went to Paris and the south of France (our 1st anniversary spent here) to visit my new family- with a quick peek at Spain. I love his mom and his son!

Just received a notice that we are moved to the CSC! I hear that is very good news! The date on the letter is Nov. 5.

Dec 16- Received our I-797C, Notice of Action Approval Notice with a Notice Date of Dec. 5 - super excited!

Called and told about change of address (in Canada) for beneficiary 12-22-08

Jan 11 2009 -Receipt of AOS Fee payment.

Feb 5- emailed DS-3032 and mailed the hard copy.

Feb 11- received confirmation email for DS-3032

Hi,

It's very difficult to get track of every procedure they take, I believe your process is now at USCIS and as soon as you get NOA 2 which is the approval of your I130, your process will be sent to NVC. Are you applying for K1, K3 or CR1 visa? Mine is CR1, so we submited I130 and don't need to submit I129, so after approval of our petition on I130 our process was sent to NVC and my husband use to call them to get a status. I send an email every week to get a status from them and they usually take 5 working days to reply, but it's ok. If you search for timelines similar to yours in here, you may understand the step by step for your case.

I'm not awared about military records but I believe you will get everything you need from the links below. I've also sent you a flowchart with the step by step for CR1 visas, if that is your kind of visa so that you'll be able to know where you are in the process.

Good luck!

Thanks so much... we are fairly new here (it took us forever to get our paperwork together for the I-130... we are so busy, and frankly, the whole process is overwhelming- I don't see how there are so many immigrants here if it takes all this!)

We are trying to stay on top of things so when the next step is ready to be taken we will have what we need.

And yes, we are going the CR-1 route as well...

Thanks so much for your help!

Don't worry, I know exactly how you feel, I was like that in the begining and didn't have this forum to clear my doubts and exchange informations, acctualy I'm new in here too, so most of the time I didn't have any idea on the whole thing in order to know what should be expected next every time we moved ahead, just like you're feeling now. But I'm sure the same won't happen to you cause you'll have a chance to get all your questions answered here and I'm confident that they will be accurate informations. You will learn and catch all the details a little every day, you'll see!

It really takes a lot of patience and love from both parts to hang in this situation hoping that the process gets to an end and be completed in the shortest period of time possible.

Our process is finally next to the end, I think it'll take 2 more months and a half for my interview. I'm now getting all the docs required on DS 230 package together to be sent to NVC and then they will review all the docs and if no RFE (request of further evidence) is required it will be completed and sent to my local embassy luckly in 45 days from now. In the total I presume that our process will take 9 to 10 months for the interview time, but I've seen other timelines that took only 7 months to acctualy get the interview, so it will all depend on how promptly you do everything that you are required to.

If I can give you a good advise is that you should be proactive on dealing with your process, calling USCIS or in the future NVC, every 2 weeks basis and also send emails in order to get a status of your case, when you feel that something is taking too long, call and ask why it is taking too long to be done or sent to you. Everytime you send them something, call after a few days to check if they got it... that was our mistake in the very begining, we didn't proceed like that and wasted a few months. I was too trusty presuming that everything would work ok and smoothly and if something wasn't right they would let us know right away, but it doesn't work like that, it mostly depends on us to get things going, moving fast. Of course I didn't want to be a "pain in the ###" by calling and checking if they received our mail and if the docs were right every time, but that's the best way to do it, it's safer, be a nice and gentle pain in the ### checking, asking and researching in here as much as you need and you'll be fine!!
