Well, our trip to Social Security was almost *too* easy today, LOL. We got to the Social Security office in Scranton shortly after it opened at 9 a.m., had ID checked at the door, and took a number. We waited about 5 minutes to be seen, and we were seen by a very nice lady (had a bit of an accent, maybe Mexican?) who took Ewen's application, his passport, and his I-94 (she didn't really seem interested in his British birth certificate).

She made photocopies of everything, had a bit of chitchat with some other people in the office about it (I think she was a bit confused about the K-1), but apparently the other folks at the office knew everything was kosher. She found Ewen in the system with no trouble at all--even showed us the SAVE printout with his name and status and everything. She said we'd get the card in the mail in about 2 weeks.

So, as I said, almost too easy. No need to send anyone any nasty e-mails, Mike. ;)

We celebrated with a breakfast at the deli down the street. One hurdle down!

Latest news: Green card received 16 April 2007. USCIS-free until 3 January 2009! Eligible to naturalize 3 April 2010.

That's always good to hear for other's who will be doing the SSN down the road.

I had much the same kind of experience when I went, and so did my daughter, but you sure do hear some nightmare stories about other people.

Sept. 9/06... I-751 sent to NSC

May 15/07... 10-Yr. PR Card arrives in the mail

Sept. 13/07... N-400 sent to NSC

Aug. 21/08... Interview - PASSED!!!!

Sept. 2/08... Oath Ceremony

Sept. 5/08... Sent in Voter Registration Card

Sept. 9/08... SSA office to change status to "U.S. citizen"

June 27/11..... Interview - PASSED!!!

July 12/11..... Oath Ceremony

09.23.2009......Embassy receives Notice of Readiness

10.13.2009......Received our interview date

10.29.2009......Successful interview!

11.5.2009........Visa received in post

11.7.2009........All the family flew to the US together :)

12.20.2009......Received Welcome to America letter

12.24.2009......10 year Greencard received in the mail

April 24, 2007 : Welcome Notice Rvcd. Yeeehaaa!!!!
June 1, 2007: GC arrived! Yippy! USCIS Free for 2 years!
2008: Moved to China
2009: Conditional GC Expired and Husband has been having affairs since 2008 in China. Can't file for ROC since he got laid off. He came to Jakarta to live with me and my parents. He got a new job. Life resume to normal or so I thought.
March 2010: Officially separated after yet more affairs exposed just a day after my birthday!

February 2011: Officially divorced.
June 18, 2011: He married the girl he had the last affair with.

August 2014: I am engaged with my real soulmate. Not an American.
