SAN ANTONIO, Texas — U.S. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, and Canadian Air Force Lt.-Gen. Marc Dumais, commander of Canada Command, have signed a Civil Assistance Plan that allows the military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a civil emergency.

"This document is a unique, bilateral military plan to align our respective national military plans to respond quickly to the other nation's requests for military support of civil authorities,” Renuart said. "Unity of effort during bilateral support for civil support operations such as floods, forest fires, hurricanes, earthquakes and effects of a terrorist attack, in order to save lives, prevent human suffering and mitigate damage to property, is of the highest importance, and we need to be able to have forces that are flexible and adaptive to support rapid decision-making in a collaborative environment."

i want MOUNTIES!!!

LOL

I can see it now.

Canada has a national emergency, US sends in the Marines.

US has a national emergency, Canada sends a few cooks and dishwashers.

Sorry my friend, they are far to busy with Tim Horton's coffee and donuts. Dishwashers and cooks it is. I think we might even have a B-52 bomber in a hanger somewhere. But that would have to be for something really BIG.

So i guess that if tim hortons across the nation were attacked in a terrorist plot, you'd bring out the b-52? but otherwise... it's just not worth it?

LOL . . . . for sure. I could not think of any greater peril to Canadian society. We'd need the B-52, the Marines, and Navy Seals for good measure.

Don't Canadians worry that if US troops are in the territories there will be a push for inclusion of the 51st state and then Quebec will finally secede and thus an ensuing civil war will break out where the EU takes Quebec's side and England takes USA's side and Canada is like "screw this!" and fires up all that B.C. chronic.

I think this has more to do with stuff like floods where Canada might come down and help out positioning FEMA trailers, the US seems to have problems with stuff like that. The US also has issues getting snow off the streets. Canada often has to come down and help clear it. The US military is off doing far more important work and Im sure its easier to outsource the little stuff.
