I recently went on the AC website to check prices from DC to calgary!! Good as prices as anyone BUT, now if ya want to select ur own seat, they charge you $20!!!!! Plus they have other options as well. if ya have no luggage, they subtract $5, if you dont want to get any airmiles they deduct $3,thats al lfine, but charging ya $20 to pick ur own seats, that blows!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

^^ I don't mind that option - keeps the prices down AND there is a trick to it, if you check in online 24 hours before you can select your seat then. Most of the time there are lots of options left. I've even selected day of and managed the seat I wanted.

i never paid to select my seat.... in general it asks when you buy your ticket...

in general most flight are in tango plus (something like that).... so they either changed it or it's a tango plus thing

the simplier tango thing i rarely saw it available anyway.

It costed about 300 (+tx) for a round trip to london during the spring sales recently.

Must be new, as when we flew Air canada back in Dec for Xmas, that $20 to pick ur own seats was not an option!!

On Tango fares you cannot select your seat unless you pay $23 or something around that.

On Tango Plus, you can select your seat.

Marilyn - that is good to know, I would totally fly WestJet if I was ever going anywhere.

When it comes down to it, I would fly any airline if the price was right.

when I flew them to Montreal and back.. I had to change planes in CAlgary on the way home... and when I got to Vancouver and was looking for my suitcase I realized it wasn't there so I went to the Westjet people and they were very helpful.. they found out that my bag had stayed in Calgary.. so they said they would fly it out to Abbotsford and deliver to our door... I got my bag the next day  and they gave me a 30 dollar discount coupon for my next Westjet flight.. but I never used it.. because I moved to the US a few days later...

If you can accept that nothing makes sense, and that when there is a special and you click on "buy now", multiply the price by 3 or even 4 for the total cost.

me either. They're the only ones who fly direct from Toronto to Charlotte believe it or not. I hate connecting, and would rather spend an extra $100 for a direct flight if I have to. Most of the time the fares are all the same, no matter what airline I look at.

What worries me is if the price of fuel continues to go up, how much are fares going to be later this year? My Mum is flying down in July for a visit. She's not rich by any means!
