London Interviews 2006 (NEW)

Thanks for the help everyone. I wasn't aware you could schedule your own medical, I thought for some reason they gave you that date! So, I'm correct in thinking James can call tommorow and schedule his medical as soon as possible and once we have sent Packet 3 in we should email London and tell them everything is sent and we're ready for an interview ASAP? I mean, it isn't a massive rush, he doesn't plan on leaving England until about a month before the wedding, so the end of April. Seeing as people are getting interviews about the beginning of March now I think we should be ok going the non-emailing and rushing London (if that's possible!) route but I think we might email them anyways just to be safe.

Yes.

and once we have sent Packet 3 in we should email London and tell them everything is sent and we're ready for an interview ASAP?
You can send back the consular visa forms whenever you want, but London will not schedule an interview until they receive IV-15 (the checklist). Which means that you can send back everything at once (Ewen did this) or you can send back the visa forms whenever you have them filled out, and the checklist whenever you have everything squared away.

If he's planning on leaving England at the end of April, I would get on all of this NOW. London is still lagging a good month or two between paperwork receipt and interview dates--Ewen waited three months between sending back his paperwork and having his interview. The folks who are e-mailing aren't notifying London of anything--they're just checking on the progress of their applications and whether or not they have a date scheduled yet.

Just adding on to the comments that say that if you want a late March/early April interview, you need to get that packet sent back NOW. If you look at the timelines carefully, you can see that there's a huge amount of variability in the dates, and you just can't count on anything. I'd guess that if you sent it right now, and had the medical already completed, you'd be lucky to get a date at the end of March... and equally likely to not have it be until later. Emailing is unlikely to do you any good right now, other that to confirm that the forms are in the system.

(And it can take up to 40 days to get a police report, if he hasn't done that.)

Right, I've officially decided I'm gonna become annoying on the London thread because I have so many questions! I'm in panic mode but I'm sure everyone else has felt the same way as well....

I was just wondering about clarification on packet 3 and what forms to send and when. Pax made it sound like they don't have to all be sent at once and the IV-15 is the crucial one. He has his police report and birth cert and all of the extra forms needed besides the ones sent to you in Packet 3. So, does this mean he can go ahead and send in the checklist and then send in the rest of the forms when he finishes them? He's having trouble getting all the dates for employment for last 10 yrs and such but I don't want there to be any extra delay on scheduling the interview. He is also going to call tommorow and schedule his medical. I sure wish there was a guide that is as good as the intial K1 guide for this step in the process! Sorry if I get annoying :P:(

The IV-15 is the one that tells the embassy that you are ready for your interview and that you have the I-134 ready etc.

I sent back my pack 3 including the IV-15 before I had the medical as the wait for interviews at london can take a while to come through.

Good luck

Donna

Almost done with it all

O ok. This would probably be easier on my end if I could actually see it and I'm sure I'd know better what to do. We just want to go ahead and schedule the medical just in case theres a delay, I'm sure he will have sent in packet 3 before the medical actually happens.

The xrays and info is sent directly to the embassy, thats what Knightbridge dr's told me.

You should have been given a copy of your vaccination history by them though.

Don't send any pics back with the packet 3, they need to be brought on your interview date. There are also two documents that you aren't supposed to sign until you are at the embassy. Please see below link for more info.

Miranda, you need to send back all of the paperwork in order for them to schedule your interview. This includes the DS230, DS 156, DS 156K and DS 157 AND the checklist. Even if you don't have the police report back or you don't have the I-134 affadavit ready, just check off everything as if you do, since you WILL have it all by the time the interview arrives. Otherwise there will be a huge delay in getting your date.

Sending back the checklist alone does nothing, they need ALL of the other Packet 3 forms in order to enter the new case file information into their system. And consequently if they have all those papers and no checklist, they still won't schedule you since they assume you aren't ready. You need to send it ALL. Here is the London Embassy site which can give you more info on this all.

http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/...processing.html

Then once packet 3 and checklist are in (you need to send this recorded delivery with signature request) you can wait about 2 weeks before you very nicely start emailing the embassy to see if they have all your forms and if they can give you a date.

Good luck!

No it doesn't. I just liked having the peace of mind when i tracked it, that I saw it was delivered and signed for.

But when the embassy tells you that your packet has been received, or when they schedule your interview, you will have that same peace of mind. I just send ALL correspondence priority with tracking and will continue to do so through AOS, so that I have proof it went where it needed to go. You'll be fine!
