DS-156 form - question 24 - how do I fill this part out if i do not know what my address will be yet?

Hello,

I am in the process of filling out my DS-156, DS-156K and DS-130 forms and you have to put on both forms where I intend to stay once arriving in America. Unfortunately, I do not have an address yet as my fiance is still looking for an apt. Does anyone know if I can put 'address not yet known' for this question or will that result in my form being rejected?

Many thanks!

Is he staying somewhere at the moment, like his parents or an apartment? You can use them for the meantime.

Yes but his move is imminent. Do you know if there is an option to change the address you put at a later date or when you have your interview?

Hi,

When is your interview?

If your fiance havent change address yet , then its better to put the address where he is residing right now, like what he put when he filed his petition for you.

I am pretty certain that this is an important question that needs to be addressed. You should definitely not put "address not known". Also, I am pretty sure that they use the information given here to learn of your intended permanent residence (AFAIK, they want this to be pretty "solid" until you get to the US and perhaps for at least some time after that). I would very strongly recommend that you call up the Embassy and ask them about this. Mention to them the situation and they will be able to advise you what to put in. I think that Mae's suggestion is also very good. Mention to the Embassy that he is currently staying home with his parents. Unless his parents live far away from where he lives/intend to live, you might as well get all your paperwork to go to their house, if the Embassy feel this is a better idea.

Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

Good luck!

The fiance's current address is perfectly acceptable. No need to confuse the Consulate on such an issue. It isn't critical anyway. You'll put the new address on the AOS papers when you file them anyway.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
