To be honest, I'm upset because I don't think there are any fora more open in terms of racial diverity and tolerance. There are obviously some issues which cause heated debate - terrorism, illegal immigration etc. - which are racially biased because the issue is racially biased, not because the people here are racists.

this topic has me totally pissed......That comment was made, not pointing fingers at any particular person....and for the people who took it personally...either, your looking to pick a fight, or, maybe have a guilty conscience....I have seen many stupid comments, or comments degrading other races in off topic, so it wasnt a lie what was posted..Visa journey has become soo sad and disgusting....this use to be the place i came to find escape, and maybe, a good laugh, or tear, and now all it does is raise my darn blood pressure...everyone in this forum is an adult, and im guessing, im the youngest (if not damn near) on this whole website...and its me who is getting annoyed of people acting like children....I use to be proud of this website, and proud of the people who belonged to it...not any more...if it was not for this website....sofyan and i probably would still be apart...this was back when people still supported and encouraged eachother....like many people lately....ill go ahead and say it...IM OUTTA HERE....its soo old..and so sickening.....

That sentiment comes and goes on VJ...this is not the first time I've heard this...I even felt it myself from time to time. But ever since I've been on VJ I've seen people complain that VJ just isn't what it use to be. So that's over two years of "VJ isn't what it use to be." Message boards are organic...and they go through waves of tension. It's not unique. All messages boards are like this. You CAN decide to go....that's your choice. You can also decide to take time away from VJ, which is what I've done in the past. People come and go and when a wave of people go, another wave come in and change the atmosphere. OR you can just be a lurker like some ex-members. *shrug*

My 2 cents:

There tends to be an anti muslim/anti arab attitude in the US. It's not horrible, but it's there. Most people don't realize it, because they're not the targets, and it's not something that they need concern themselves with.

Occasionally, this attitude flairs on this board. For those of us who happen to be muslim/arab/involved with someone who is one, we are aware of this attitude, because we experience it in our every day lives. VJ is one of the few boards I still frequent, because the attitude doesn't show up here a lot. But, when it does, it stings even more, because we view this as a safehaven away from the sh*t we deal with in our real lives.

This is not said to excuse the language of the quote in question, but to explain why some of us feel a wee bit like outsiders in OT.

not just anti muslim/arab, etc.........also you read about illegal mexicans, i am a legal mexican in this country and read about illegal even if it is from mexico doesnt make me feel offended, i havent been attacked here at all, i have only got advice and support so far, i have to say i dont like when people generalize as mexican are all same but i believe anyone is entitled to an opinion.....

i post here too, and i am not a racist....mexican? that would be funny hehe

I have no reason to apolagize. There has been many racist posts and comments. Bottom line. some people are guilty and some people are not.
