yes, is not easy to marry in catholic church especially your fiance is divorce aside from divorce paper in the court they will ask another a divorce in the church. and the church will find out whats the real cause of his divorce. and also there in the philippines the catholic church will investigate the cause of his divorce. it takes time.

We are married in catholic church here in Swannanoa, North Carolina March 26, 2008 more than 2 weeks after i arrived here in NC bec. my fiance is single and he started attending seminar to become a catholic last year after his 1st visit in phils. March 22 he was baptized and confirmed, that is Easter vigil, bec thats what the priest want the date he will be baptized. i was planning him before to be baptized in the phils. on his 2nd visit but i followed the priest.

He told the priest that i want to get married in the catholic church while he is attending the seminar and we become close to the parish priest. The priest gave us only like a special seminar before our wedding. we dont have a pre cana 6 months seminar.

Even though my husband and I are both Catholic, he had to go through some difficulties for us to have a church wedding. He was twice divorced in the past and the Catholic Church will not allow us to get married until his previous marriages are annulled. It took at least a year for it to be annulled. I agree that Catholic Church is pretty strict when it comes to marriage rites. The couple needs to do a lot of things like pre-canning, 10 weeks wedding bann, etc... like the traditional Catholic church wedding in the Philippines. Since as a K-1, I only have 90 days to get married, my husband and I didn't think that we could have a church wedding. But thankfully, he was able to waive some of the things that the church's requiring us. Everything was carefully prepared and planned by my husband and his friends before I even got here. And so we had a wonderful church wedding 3 weeks after I arrived. It's a dream come true to be married with the church's blessings. I told my husband that it would be my first and only wedding and I wanted it to be a memorable one. IT HAPPENED!:dance::dance:

You'll really need careful planning to have a successful and wonderful church wedding...

Not all Catholic Churches are like that. I worked in a Catholic Church for 7 years and I've seen lots of couples skate through easier then you are describing.

If the divorced person was married in the Catholic Church there are some rules which are hard to get around. If both were Catholic. If they had pre-marital counseling. A few others.....then annullment may be difficult. If they were not married in the Catholic church, yet had the marriage blessed by a Catholic Priest, same thing. If they were not married in the Catholic Church, did not have it blessed or even consult a priest, it is pretty easy to get an annullment in just weeks.

Meeting with the Priest......I've seen it plenty of times where just one spouse has met with the priest or not at all when unavailable. And, in a pinch, no pre-marital counseling or testing is done. Our's was one class to take a test and one to discuss the results. There was nothing of the 6 month sort at all.

It is best if the USC personally knows the priest or knows someone who can get them in easily with the Priest.

Please ask around and/or call around a lot before completely dissing this idea, if it is what you want to do. There are ways around everything. You just have to be persistant.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Very true... my husband knows our priests here personally. He's also a lector and a benefactor in our church.
