the only thing that i dont like about this law is that once when visiting relatives in lower texas we were on a bus and they came on and started demanding documents showing citizenship i was a little girl at that time and i remember i was scared.......we had nothing but my moms drivers license they questioned us because of the color of our skin.......they didnt bother anyone that was not (hispanic, mexican, or any other person that was lite skinned)....they didnt ask me anything i was busy hiding behind my mom but i do remember that at the end of it she got angry and told them were to put the ...........badge that gave them the right to treat us so rudely i guess that was the right answer cuz they let us go lol..........

When was this?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Why is this an issue?

When you leave your house in the morning, you're supposed to keep ID on you for cases like, oh I don't know, you get run over and sent to hospital and they need to know who you are?

I believe it's a law one needs to carry ID on oneself at all times.

When you drive a vehicle, you need to carry your DL. Just because cops don't randomly pull people over to look at their DL, doesn't mean one doesn't carry it whenever one is operating a vehicle.

If you have nothing to hide, why the worry? A violation of one's human rights? Heck to the no.

In these cases, they are doing racial profiling. You won't be asked if you're white and just sitting there. It's a new way to harass brown people, basically.

Noone take notice of this 'carry ID law' literally. It's like here in Massachusetts where having sex other than missionary position is illegal. I don't carry anything besides my license and money.

It's not very cost-effective to be 'BIG BROTHER' always watching the population. What is the punishment of not having an ID? Deportation, 90 days in jail, hmm...What is the consequence to break the law?

if you look 'american' certainly they won't stop you for papers.. but then, for naturalized citizens,, how does it work? is there a citizen id for naturalized ones? or can you just tell the cops, im a USC, how are they gonna believe you?

I have never been treated or spoken to with anything but anger by a cop! They treat us like dirt around here too, because there's too many of us and they resent us. Even when I walk up to one to ask for directions, I get ####### from them. I let my white friends/colleagues ask instead and they act like they're old friends. Fukcin pisses me off, but that's how cops are. Buncha low income uneducated pigs.

Yeah. These cops aren't dedicated to their jobs. They just work because they have too. Not because they want to. They probably want a job that pays a little higher than minimum wage. The Exam is easy so as the Academy for training. Short time learning will give a living worth higher than minimum wage.

Cop jobs are welfare for dumb people who couldn't cut it anywhere else.

The cops are certainly much nicer here than many I have 'dealt with' overseas. Well here in Virginia they are. A cop pulled me over by mistake and even apologized. Back in Melbourne he would have probably fined me for wasting his time..

once again....if one is not doing anything they shouldn't be, they've got nothing to worry or complain about.

riiiight, because this has "failproof" all over it?

/disagree vehemently - especially since many people cannot wrap their heads around the fact that my husband is here legally despite 2+ years without a greencard.

uumm did you forget to mention your husband has paperwork that states that fact?
