I am very happy and proud to announce the birth of my first grandson Adam Scott Hudson. He is a beautiful 6 lbs 1 oz , 19.5 inches long and head full of black hair baby boy! He was born March 27, 2008.

We noticed on day two after birth that his abdomen was very big. He didn't seem in pain or like it bothered him. The doctors immediately did an ultrasound and brought us devastating news. He has a mass of cysts where his right kidney should be. They were unsure but did not believe he had a right kidney.

He was immediately transferred to the Newborn ICU at Riley Childrens Hospital in Indianapolis. They have determined he was born with just one kidney and it seems to be normal. He has a slight blockage from that kidney to his bladder but they are confident they will be able to fix it.

Other than draining the cysts and fixing the blockage he is a beautiful baby! Very active and alert. He will be in the Riley ICU for 2 more weeks before coming home. Please join me by praying for his recovery and for his parents strength to endure the two weeks at the hospital.

Rhonda I am very sorry to hear your news, but sounds like Adam is doing great despite the situation which is a wonderful thing. I will keep Adam and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

2011 May 9 - Placed in line for interview scheduling

2011 June 13 - Rec'd yellow letter (no change in status online)

2011 June 23 - Rec'd text that my case has been scheduled for interview

2011 August 1 - Interview (rec'd via snail mail June 27) PASSED

2011 August 3 - Rec'd email that my case has been scheduled for Oath

2011 September 1 - Oath ceremony (rec'd snail mail Aug 5)

2011 September 1 - All done, yeah.

Congratulations on the birth of your grandson!

I have known a couple of people who were born with only one kidney - in both cases it was years and years before they discovered it. It shouldn't impact upon his quality of life. I hope that he recovers soon!

U.S. CITIZEN SINCE MAY 8TH 2008

NATURALIZATION

28th july 2007 - N-400 mailed to VSC

(exactly on the 90th day mark...applications NOT returned although some scared me into thinking they could have!)

30th july 2007 - N-400 delivered to VSC

11th august 2007 - Delivery Confirmation receipt received

17th september 2007 - Money Order (FINALLY!) cashed

9th november 2007 - NOA! (notification period given 180 days)

21th november 2007 - Biometrics appointment letter

18th december 2007 - Biometrics appointment in Baltimore, MD completed

29th march 2008 - FINALLY received letter with interview date!

8th may 2008 H 8:40 AM - Interview in Baltimore-APPROVED!

8th may 2008 H 3:00 pm (yes same day, crazy!) Oath Ceremony in Baltimore

24th may 2008 - US Passport application mailed off

6th june 2008 - US Passport received in the mail!!!

congratulations on your grandson! kidney malfunctions are common these days (I guess that's why mother nature gave us 2 of them) As long as the other one is intact, I'm sure the little man will be fine with one kidney, good luck! :thumbs:
