Notification of receipt of packet 3 from the embassy?

Hi!

I was wondering if the embassy usually sends some kind of receipt notice (via email or regular mail) once they receive the packet 3 back?

If not, can we send them an email to ensure that the packet has been received?

I'm not sure what they normally do, but I would suggest definitely shooting them an email to ask for confirmation.

They never answered mine. :(

I'd also recommend calling DOS a couple weeks after you sent yours to inquire. When I did that I learned that MTL never acknowledged receipt of our paperwork, so now I'm chasing down how to fix this. So it was definitely worth the call. But I think it's good to wait a little bit of time to give them a chance to find it / open it / whatever it is they do with it.

Thanks for your answer! So have you figured out yet how you're going to fix the problem? Are you going to have to resend your packet 3 again?

Well our lawyer says she's trying to get ahold of them to get an answer. But that's not enough for me. We are also going to resend the documents, along with the checklist, which we hadn't sent the first time. We have Fedex verification that it was delivered on March 14th so the best I can do is hope that they honor that date and our "place in line", if we had one. Actually, we're going to Fedex the stuff back AND fax it to them.

I mean, maybe they have it, but are just ignoring us. I don't know. I want to cover all our bases at this point and not leave any holes though, you know?

Good luck to all of us getting quick interviews!

That sucks....they're giving terrible service. I mean what would it take for them just to send a 1 line email notification to aknowledge receipt of the packet....and it would make such a difference in all our lives i'm sure.

I didn't know you could use courier like FedEx to send documents to the embassy....I assume then you must have Fedexed your documents to the consulate's actual address (on rue St-Alexandre) and not to their mailing address (PO Box)?

Tell me about it!!!

And no, actually we fedexed to their PO box, no problem, and will again. What method of shipment did you use?

I'm just so tired of waiting at this point (we filed back in July), it's worth the cost to me to overnight the stuff. Well, plus it seems to be our lawyers preferred method of shipment, since it's secure and traceable and fast.

As a funny aside... Every time I see your screen name I think "Yo! Montreal!" ;) Though I'm sure it has to do with you & your fiance's names.

Mtl doesn't send you anything letting you know that they got your packet 3

call them about 2-3 weeks to find out if you're in their system yet

or email

Thank you for your answers!

rae_and_scott: my screen name just comes from my first name (Yohann) and obviously Montreal (since that's where I live) :-)

Do you guys know if going to the embassy in person to turn in the packet 3 could also be an option?
