hello everybody, well here is the issue, when we sent the application to the uscis my fiancee made amistake in the date of birth of my ex,i'am divorced in 2006,the application was approved, and the interview is set,and i got the documents to fill, which contain the date of birth of my ex,now iam lost, should i write the real date of birth of my ex,or the one wrote in the uscis application, actualy if i wrote the real one it's gonna be a red flag, because she was older than me,and she was living in another country,VJs users and expert i need your advice as long as the interview is soon,so what do you suggest,i want a smooth interview without complicating, iam sure they gonna ask me about my ex,why we divorced, and why marrying here even if it's not about her,i already set answers,i hope everything go fine,so what should i do in my case?

:time: and the rest of your info. (Country and what did you file for).

You need to write the real date of the birth of your ex-husband/wife, if they ask you why is different from the date you wrote on the I-129F, you'll have to explain that you made a mistake when you filed.

I don't know from which country are you from or how the divorce decree's look like over there. But in my country the divorce decree contains all the general information about the couple who's marriage is being dissolved, such as complete name, age, nationality, place of residence, etc. So even if someone makes a mistake or lies when filling out the information on the forms, they'd find out anyway when they see the information on the divorce decree.

Fill the forms with the right info. and be prepared to explain that you made a mistake on the I-129F.

I don't know if the fact that your ex was older than you is going to be a red flag, but I can asure you that lying about her age (if you make the same "mistake" again, it would not be a mistake, it would be a lie) would be a HUGE red flag.

hi thanks for your answer,it seem not a lot are interested in giving some advice, thank you dear Eric and Teresa,we did fill for a k1,my ex was from united kingdom, and she was the one asked for the divorce not me,i have a British divorce decree with only names nothing else, and the divorce is accepted by my country court,so i have the acceptance that the divorce is good in my country too,if i fill the real one, will they ask for a new process, and yet another one year of waiting?or they won't care about it?i have already asked for a tourist visa, and i did fill the real date of birth of my ex,so they would know if they want,so i am just worried about if they will ask for a new application, since the first was filled with the wrong ex date of birth, what do you suggest?

thanks

I believe that this error is not significant. So just tell them at the interview and give them a corrected form, you should be OK. If you can fill out your signature, profile etc. others can help you more. For Example if we know which country you are applying for - some are more strict than others and people with the same embassy can give you their personal experience. Good Luck

Dear Lostin Us,

You see to be worrying a lot for something that is probably nothing. Assuming the first incorrect inormation in the application was just a simple error, you should absolutely correct that error now in the new forms. I would also write a simple short letter explaining tht you made a simple mistake on the date, that in reviewing the paperwork now, you uncovered your mistake and have corrected that mistake. Simple...no big deal. don't worry so much!! Good luck!

Warm Regards,

Samby

PS. Please fill in your information in your Visa Journey profile TIMELINE! Thanks.

Wishing Everyone Speed, Success, Happiness and Love,

TinTin and Samby

thanks for your answers, this is really helpful,i'am from Tunisia, the mistake was in my biographic form, not in the i-129 form, instead of putting a 5 it was 7,i believe it was the lawyer who did it,because my fiancée called me once and told me something wasn't clear in the form so the lawyer made it clear, and it was the date of birth of my ex.so all i have to do is,write the correct things, and if they ask me i say it was the mistake of the lawyer because he corrected the number without referring to me,he though its a 7 instead of 5?is this okay?

Yes, if they ask, you just let them know it was a mistake.

Don't forget to complete your timeline :)
